The newly formed National Farmers Organization plans to hold farm products from markets in coming weeks to push prices higher. Local truckers report a surge of calls to haul market hogs before the action begins. A Wabash derailment displaced about 30 cars near Moulton with Carson Jordan aiding restoration. Small trains began moving again.
Moulton editor Dick Eby cites veteran railroad men calling the wreck the worst pile up they have seen after a Monday incident that tore up about a half mile of track. Moravia residents report active Sunday gatherings in town as the community building nears completion with interior redecorating and plans for winter use. The school election is set for Monday September 10 followed by the Fall Festival. Moravia reports few burglaries, though the Moravian Farm Service Co office was entered Friday night or Saturday morning, with money and items stolen from the office and vending machine.
The Blackhawks 4-H group met at the Ralph Helmick home with Dean Garrison. David Talbot led the session at 8 15 PM on August 23, 1962, with ten members and two ladies in attendance. Dale Webling spoke on preparing and finishing record books, while David McAnally suggested raising funds by donating groceries and selling ten cent tickets during the Blakesburg Fall Festival. Alan and Glen Ammons demonstrated how to check and adjust spark plug gaps, with refreshments served by Bruce, Marcia, and their mother, reporter Leon Calhoun.

Udell Gorden family returns to California after two months at their farm visiting relatives and friends. Mrs Mary Harrett improved after pneumonia in Illinois. Several local families and neighbors visited, with routes through Scranton and Dallas Center. Johnsons and Mrs Price traveled from Venice California, awaiting Pennsylvania trip.
Union Township residents enjoy meals and visits with extended family guests from Chariton California Ardsley New York and neighboring towns including Walter Knarper Burdett Cox Ward Ward Dennis Kelly Jeff and Todd Downing. Races and ice cream gatherings are noted along with multiple Wednesday and Sunday social calls.
Descendants of Peter and Nancy Good gathered at Moravia park on August 26 1962 for their annual Good reunion. A cooperative dinner followed by a brief business meeting, with Miss Mary Hanes elected president and several officers reappointed. The youngest attendee was Jeffrey Dean Parry, great grandson of Mrs Caroline Good Hart, and the oldest was Lawrence Heartley, son of Mrs Nancy Good Heartley. Flora Sample of El Centro California joined as distant relative.
Middling report describes a reading by Hares enjoyed by Mra. attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Adler of Winslow Arizona and many Moravia residents. The group shared blue corn bread samples and discussed missionary work. The next gathering is planned for the Moravia park on the fourth Sunday.
The Beef Producers Association of Appanoose County will meet Friday August 31 at 9:00 pm in the Centerville Agricultural Building to discuss an annual feeder calf sale. The group notes Appanoose ranks 16th in calf production and considers land use and pasture efficiency for beef cattle growth while promising further announcements after the meeting.
