Ed Johnson and family were at Rollie Carter’s Saturday. Mrs. Geo Darby and Dorotha visited Sytsma girls. Grant Lincox’s Sunday guests included E. G. Sintox family Vern Newcomb and Mr. Murdy of Albia and Henry Sytsma. Herman Johnson and family visited the Castle home Wednesday. Willie Van Dorin and family spent Sunday at Jimmie Van Dorin’s.
Brompton O D DuVall and family visited at the W K Wilson home Sunday. Various locals spent time with friends and relatives including Bert Fisher, Clarence Wilson, Edgar Wilson, Howard Robinson of Malvern visiting Ed Robinson, and a Helping Hand club meeting planned with O S Miller, Geneva Selman, and Mrs Ia E Boardman. A baby girl arrived to Roy and Fisher, born Friday at St Joseph hospital Ottumwa. Several residents traveled to OsKaloosa and Soquille Oregon for visits, with Barn, Turner, and Selman families noted, and Brompton schoolhouse repairs underway.

Residents from several nearby towns gathered for Ben Cook’s hundredth birthday at Main Grove south of Moravia. Attendees included the Dicks, Argo, Bailey, Young, Carpenter, and Beaty families plus many neighbors. A Callen reunion, Hail Storm quilt work, and planned ice cream supper featured in events surrounding the day.
The gathering featured quilting and binding a quilt and group singing Jed led by Mrs. Fleming. Gifts of remembrance were given to her by Mrs. Mark Brown and Miss Jane Murphy. A cooperative dinner drew many attendees including Ida Argo Sarah Hiner and others. Health notes mention Leo Derby and Leohia, plus eye and tonsil history.

John Johnson and family with Cheree Dyphon and Ruby Whitehead went picnicking at Lake Wapello Sunday. Mrs Clyde Wilson and Mrs G B Johnson visited at the E F Wilson U S Mangley home. U S Mangley spent Sunday evening at the Jeff Patrick home. John Johnson and family enjoyed a hamburger fry at the Dowdgrove Monday evening. Mr and Mrs Allen Boller and Alma Keemer spent Sunday evening at the E F Wilson home. Mr and Mrs C O Jones and grandchildren Phyllis and Geraldine Easter and Mrs Vone Jones were Sunday visitors at the Gus Luse. Don Hayes and family visited at the Hollingsworth and Hayes homes at Sigourney Sunday evening. Dorothy and Ralph Davis and Wendell Roberts visited at the Russell Davis home at Swan and attended the State Fair Friday and Saturday. Mrs Russell Davis and daughters Marian and Janet of Swan are visiting at the O G Davis and Carl Cloyed homes this week.
