The REA district with 2 500 members may bring up to 10 000 people across five counties for Moravia s Fall Festival kickoff and the first day. Town fathers hope to improve Moravia s notorious streets despite limited finances while evaluating worked alternatives. Korea front coverage notes UN misrepresentation and possible French reinforcements as U N members string along.
Rays Ramblins reports the Fall Festival plan expanded to a larger event this year with a three day format. Thursday will host the REA annual meeting and top notch entertainment, promising the largest crowd of the festival.
CaureueS church announces Sunday School at 10:00 a m and Morning Worship at 11:00 a m with evening services at 7 30 p m Young People's meeting follows. Rev Floyd Murphy Nazarene pastor from Albia will preach Sunday evening at 7 30 p m Junior meeting at 6 00 p m and Thursday prayer meeting at 8 00 p m listed.
Wauneita McConnell presides at Grace Methodist Moravia Iowa with Morning Worship and sermon titled A Glad Surprise. Wesley Methodist Church lists Wauneita McConnell as minister with Church School at 10 80 a m and Morning Worship at 9 45 a m with the same sermon topic A Glad Surprise.
Evangelical United Brethren Church announces Homecoming and Rally Day on Sunday Sept. ard with Rev H R Knight guest speaker from Des Moines. Services include Sunday School 10 50 a m Worship 7 00 p m Youth Fellowship 8 00 p m and Evangelistic service 8 00 p m Basket dinner follows. Every absence from church seen as voting for a godless community.
The church invites visitors to attend Sunday school at 10:00 a.m. and public worship at 11:00 a.m. Sermon titled What Jesus Said About the World and Worldliness.
Claude Hawk visited Sunday morning. Zell Wilson delivered veal calves and livestock to Albia sale barn. Freddie Van Dorin and Levi Porter homes were called on Saturday. Plowing contest near Albia drew LeRoy Wilson G R Darby W. Th Van Dorin Clarence and Edgar Wilson Earl Boardman Rus sell Darby and son Jim attended. John Johnson and wife visited Sunday. Wilson and son LeRoy threshed oats Friday achieving four bushels per acre.
The report records 36 degrees on Sunday and 40 degrees on Monday with clear skies and a northwest wind. Visitors included Carl Cloved and wife at Zell Wilson's home. John Goode Seed Co. received a corn load on Friday. Dommer moved cattle to Albia sale barn. More dry weather will finish threshing small grain. clover building nearing completion with strong yield prospects.
Mrs Emmett Derby and guests hosted at Glen Turner and Roy Sheldon’s to meet newborn Ronald Fredrick born August 16. Visitors included Mrs Nellie Thompson and family, Mrs Wayne Thompson and baby, and Emmett Derby of the Derby family. Local residents attended the Sidney rodeo last week. threshers were fed by several from the community with Dottie Swift Maude Turner and Mary Lemar assisting.
Miss Joyce Watts returns home after a three month visit with her father Farrer Watts and family in Chicago. Mr and Mrs Mike Lowe of Torrington Wyoming were recent visitors at the Waldo More Jack Martin and Del Wilson homes.
Mr and Mrs Walter Gayhart of Topeka Kansas spent the weekend at the B M Jones home. Elvin Curl family moving this week to a farm near Rose Hill. Mr and Mrs Everett Brooke and Mary returned from a Black Hills trip and visited relatives there. Rev and Mrs Cecil Wyant on a two week vacation visiting relatives in Indiana and Ohio. Dan Guernsey of Charlton visited the Del Wilson home. Lawrence Doll of Hammond Indiana spending two weeks here with his mother Ruth Doll and family. Mr and Mrs Walter Harper attended the rodeo at Sidney Wednesday. Bob Miller recently back from road construction work in Oregon visiting his parents and recovering from injuries in a car wreck. Frank Hopkins and grandsons Richard and Paul visited Lester Goode in Columbus Junction. Mrs Wayne Hinote returned home Saturday from St Joseph hospital Centerville after surgery. Jack Clancy went to Grand Rapids Michigan to attend college.
George Hammond reports a midweek visit by Mr and Mrs Charlie Ellis to Will Kelsey. Gertrude Penfield hosted a Stanley party at her home on Tuesday afternoon. Ruby and Maude Whitehead called on Rena Breese Wednesday. The Donald Clark family visited Flo Frame Saturday and took Sonny Frame home.
Andy and Sharon Lowe visit grandparents while parents vacation in Wisconsin. Darlene and Lois Ashette stay with George Hammond. Priscilla Mehrhoff and Max Mehrhoff host Jack Penfield. LeRoy Brown group visits Beryl Brown. George Hammond with Lorraine and Beryl Brown travel to Ottumwa. Marjorie Hough and A J Brown dine with Birdie Main. Dorman Irwin visits Roy Sheldon. Harold Igo visits Jim DeWitt. Pearl Kelsey visits with Will Kelsey and Nellie Thompson. Patty Kelsey returns from trips to Washington DC and Florida.

Lissie Kelsey Verda Argo Nellie Thompson and Marjorie Kelsey helped Verna McAninch dress chickens for the locker Moniday. Lawrence visited Oswald Irwin Friday evening. Mr and Mrs Norman Lee Quigley and sons spent Sunday with Mrs Mary Quigley. Mr and Mrs Grey Penfield Mr and Mrs Max Mehrhoff Mr and Mrs Kenneth Mehrhoff and son. Mrs Priscilla Mehrhoff and Harlan Loch spent Monday evening at Jack Penfield's and helped Gertude and Richard celebrate their birthdays on the 21st and 22nd. Minister Dewey Lall and family were dinner guests Sunday at Will Kelsey’s.
