Ronald VanZante spent Sunday at Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Kehrberg and family attended the Oskaloosa fair, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. John VanZante spent Thursday at the Oskaloosa fair. Mrs. Helene Scott came home with them for a week's visit. Mrs. C. W. Moore and Flo of Ottumwa are spending a few days at the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Lute Hiatt spent Sunday at Carl VanZante's, Wendell Murdy helped at the Ben Jones home last week in stalling bathroom fixtures. Cyril McDanel was taken to the St. Josephs hospital this morning for removal of part of his finger.
Community notes record Wesley W.S.C.S. meeting at Josephine Lindley with 16 attendees. Social hour followed devotions, lesson by Juanita Dooley, ice cream and cookies served by Evelyn Daniela and Genevie Donovan, tea by the hostess.
Mr and Mrs J H Suiter celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary July 30 1956 in Ernfold Saskatchewan with a reception at Veterans hall. The event featured a pink white table centerpiece and a three tier fruit cake as guests toured the village. The couple long hosted civic roles and homesteaded before settling in Ernfold where they raised a daughter Frances now Mrs Ray Sykes and four grandchildren Donald Howard Beverly and Sharon Rae. The evening included remarks by Ted Sylvester a welcome from Mayor Armstrong and musical numbers by the Towans and Mrs Rousseau.
Fendings and Herr Burgess present Reeve of Norge municipality reviewed community activities of the Suiters. A short tale by Dick Wilson followed. Rev Reitan from Droxford led greetings and Rev Stanaslav gave closing remarks as groups sang. Numerous local families participated.
An ice cream social at Brushy church on August 8 honored Mr and Mrs Glenn Massman and daughter from Tucson Arizona visiting relatives. Eighty one guests enjoyed thirteen gallons of ice cream and twelve cakes with singing and conversation. Present were Glenn and Marty Massman from Tucson Tom Massman from Centerville Frank Dixon from Corydon Rev Atwood and two boys from Allerton.
