Des Moines April 17 the Beatty Bennett bill finally became law with the governor's signature after a long battle in the Senate and House. A fire was discovered in the telephone office on Unionville Main Street around 6 PM Sunday. The building, owned by C. A. Farrington, housed the Tra Stufflebeam switchboard family who were away. a daughter had just left. Neighbors forced the door, alarms spread, and volunteers extinguished the blaze, with heavy damage to the roof and lower room from fire and water.
