Bennet Retained as Chief of Soil Conservation Service
Dr Hugh H Bennett will remain as Chief of the U S Soil Conservation Service beyond retirement age. Secretary Brannan extended his appointment for an unspecified period. The move coincides with the one stop service plan uniting SCS PMA and Forest Service to provide coordinated county level support for farmers and permanent practices financed by PMA. This reflects the goal to maximize land use and soil protection across Iowa and beyond.
