Cherry Blossant festival and DC city portrait
A critic’s column lampoons the Columbia Cherry Blossom festival as a Washington Board of Trade promotion, then paints a sardonic picture of Washington life. It mocks the city’s politics, crime, racism, and urban contrasts from the Anacostia banks to Dupont circles, citing civic irony and social trends. The piece weaves festival pride with sharp satire of locals, visitors, and institutions.
