Beautiful Church Wedding Unites Phyllis Laws and Paul Dicks

A 4 pm Sunday April 2 ceremony at Evangelical United Brethren church Morvain united Misa Phyllis Laws and Paul Dicks in a candlelight service before 100 guests. The couple’s families and out of town relatives attended as music featured Miss Mary Rose Main and Miss Pat Reagan. The bride wore a nylon marquisette gown with chantilly lace and seed pearl accessories, carrying yellow roses. The reception followed in the church dining room with yellow and white decor and a three tier cake. The newlyweds plan to live in the Ethel Hamilton house and honeymoon after the ceremony.

ETC Club Meets with Leonard Palmers Hosts Social Evening

The ETC club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Palmers with Mr. and Mrs. George Firkins and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Veach assisting. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Morgan. Prizes were won by Mrs. Paul Spencer and John Johnson. Mrs. Gerald Morgan received the guest prize. Refreshments were prepared by the committee.

Mrs Butler Honored At Postnuptial Shower

Ann Callen hosted a post nuptial shower in Moravia on March 28 for Mrs Richard Butler. Guests enjoyed games and a mock wedding with prizes awarded to Mrs Helen Underwood and Mrs Margaret Brooks. Gifts were opened and refreshments served. several senders mailed gifts.

A neighborhood gathering last Wednesday welcomed the newly moved in Guy Argo and Jon Martin families. The Ivan Moffitts, who have moved away, were invited. Games and contests provided entertainment and sandwiches coffee and cookies were served at the close.

Garden club plots seed and food sale for April

The Moravian garden club met with Mrs. William Gardner and Mrs. Ben Williams aiding. Plans were laid for a plant bulb seed and food sale set for April 29. A large committee organized sections for perennials seeds and bulbs refreshments greeting cards publicity and more. Guests shared reading on garden books and spring blooms were noted.

Mrs Ida Henderson died at home in Cherokee Oklahoma on Monday April 3 at age 84 years 23 days. Moravia community learns that DeWitte Yeager a 48 year old farmer died by suicide Monday. He was born March 1 1904 at Drakenville to Tom and Minnis Yeager. Norah Paxston Van Bllaricom 81 of near Rome Iowa died March 26 1960 at 81 years eight months and 27 days. She married George Van Blaricom in 1887. five children were born, one daughter Mary Schulz and one son Elmer Van Blaircom survive. Funeral services were held March 29 at the Church of Christ with Rev Lyons, burial at Shaffer cemetery. Pallbearers included Art Fox and Clifford Paxston among others.
