Infant Stocker Dies in Sleep at Five Months

Karla Kay Stocker five months old daughter of Mr and Mrs Carl Stocker of Rt 1 Freeport Illinois died in her sleep Monday April 2 at the parents home. Born prematurely September 23 at St Frances hospital death due to a faulty heart valve. Services were held Wednesday afternoon in Freeport. Moravia Sees New Homes Start This Week

Construction on several houses began in Moravia this week. A basement was dug for the home of Mr and Mrs John Sharp one block south of the town park between Ivan Walter and late Orph Taylor houses. Concrete blocks were unloaded for the Max McDonough home one block south of the southeast corner of the square.

Golden wedding anniversary dinner for A L Dawkins

Mr and Mrs Earl Tuttle hosted a March 25 family dinner in Centerville honoring the golden wedding anniversary of A L Dawkins and his wife. Genevieve Morgan Appointed Moravia Post Office Sub Clerk

Postmaster Don Pettibone announced Genevieve Morgan has been named sub clerk for the Moravia post office. She will cover vacations and sick leave and other absences, selected from Ottumwa civil service exam candidates. Twenty six took the examination. vacancy followed the death of Gerald Morgan, long time Moravia clerk. Other local staff include Larry Brooks and Virginia Pettibone.

E T C Club Party At Lee Hiatt Home

Members of E T C club enjoyed a party at the home of Mr and Mrs Lee Hiatt with Mr and Mrs Frank Lathen assisting Thursday evening. Rook was played with high score prize going to Mrs Leonard Palmer traveling prize to Mrs Florence Carson guest prize to Theo Miller and guests included Mr and Mrs Loyd Carter and Mr and Mrs Theo Miller. Improvements To County Courthouse Appanoose County

Appanoose county courthouse received new aluminum and glass double doors at all four entrances. A new gas heating system replaced reliance on the Town Southern Utilities electric Plant. The court library was completed on the third floor south end of the courtroom. Judge's room moved next to the courtroom, ladies jury room relocated, and county nurse's office placed in the former ladies jury room.

Strunk Seeks Appanoose County Board Seat 1964 Democrat

Lester Punk Strunk of Union township east of Moravia announces his candidacy for the Appanoose County Board of Supervisors for the 1964 term on the Democratic ticket. He owns 247 acre farm southeast of Moravia and has built all farm buildings. He and his family attend Miller Baptist church and he previously served on the Union township school board and on the ASC committee for two years. He pledges to work for all taxpayers if elected.
