Sundeen Seeks Republican Nomination for County Recorder

Announcement from C Nui Sundeen of Exline says he seeks the Republican nomination for county recorder in the June primary. Sundeen has lived in Exline for 27 years after moving from Centerville, working in coal mining and carpentry, serving as mayor, assessor, and school board president. He is active in church and belongs to two lodges, pledging to serve the people if elected.

Ottumwa District Woman's Home Missionary Society holds its thirty second annual meeting at the M B E Church Moravia on Tuesday and Wednesday April 8 and 9 1930 with devotions music and greetings led by Rev B G Hawkins and Mina Ida Kahlo. Reports from secretaries and circles follow with addresses by Ida Kahlo and Miss Olive Leech plus a banquet and devotional services culminating in a Pentecostal service led by Dr W J Todd and reflections on the jubilee and annual report book.

Moravia High stages lively junior class play College Cut-Ups

A capacity crowd filled Moravia High School gym Friday to watch the Junior class present College Cut-Ups, a three act comedy drama of college life. The cast and instructors Kathryn Whitehill Evelyn Shepherd received praise for a polished performance. The program opened with the High School Orchestra, followed by a trio of intermission entertainments and Norman Firkins’s humorous reading.

Mrs Otis Stober Carey Dies After Pneumonia in Ottumwa

Mrs. Otis Stober Carey born 1888 in Davis County Iowa died at her Ottumwa home on Saturday March 22 after a week long pneumonia. Survived by husband Otia and four children Thelma Aileen Glen and Trenton all at home. Funeral March 24 at Moulton Methodist Church conducted by Dr Heath with Rev Rex Moulton assisting. Burial Oak Lawn Cemetery. She was active in Main Street Methodist Church and Rebekah lodge. Former Moravia residents with many friends extend sympathy.

Moravia bond vote backs new school building plan

In Moravia April 6, 25 years ago, 365 votes were cast on a school bond proposal with a 45 vote majority in favor. A celebration followed by supporters. Lige Kinende family moved back from Mystle to Moravia. Farmers gathered, merchants reported strong business as McVey opened a sods fountain. Oats sowing continued. a new girl arrived at Johnny Foster's. Schreiner installed a wind mill for Frank McCord. Roy Wiatt and Myrtle Glad Felder wed in Copterville.

Legion Auxiliary Plans Vacation Bible School

The Legion Auxiliary held a record breaking meeting with about twenty five members in attendance. Plans for a two week Vacation Bible School were formed and a county convention at Moulton on April 24 discussed along with a birthday party for disabled veterans at Knox ville government Hospital. Emphasis on increasing membership and a $14 monthly quota was urged.
