Thomas G. Manson a Centerville native and Appanoose County resident for most of his life died suddenly at his Centerville home on Friday March 27 he was 77 years 11 months and 3 days old He engaged in merchantile and produce business with stores in Centerville Udell and Hiattaville He is survived by his wife Barbers a brother Tiane Mannon a sister Mrs Betty Oneal of Denver and a half brother Joe Payton of New York Funeral services were held at the Centerville Methodist Church on Monday afternoon.

Birthday party honors World War Veterans in Knoxville

Mrs. J. F. Albert led the Eighth District Legion Auxiliary birthday party for World War Veterans at the government hospital in Knoxville on Friday. Weather kept others away, but hospital staff praised it as the best party since the program began. The unit brought a large amount of homemade candy and joked about April Fool’s on the press and readers.

Has Broken Leg On Monday Near Centerville

W H Powell suffered a broken leg above the ankle when his horse slipped near the Cooper Creek bridge north of Centerville. He was rode to Centerville hospital for treatment and returned home that evening as roads were blocked and winter weather frustrated travel.
