Man Who Started School Band Enlists in Army
Dale Carla who organized the first high school band at Morning View 11 years ago has entered the U S Army. Mrs Caris has moved to Mt Pleasant to live with her parents Ed and Mrs Williams. School Board Names Blackman New Moravia Coach
Moravia public school selects Don Blackman son of Moravia residents as coach and social science instructor for the coming year. Superintendent William H. Young announced Blackman will replace Gordon Speers who resigned. Blackman, Moravia graduate, holds a BA from the University of Iowa in social science with a minor in physical education. He coached baseball and basketball in high school and taught last year at Oxford Iowa.

Doctor C. T. Slavin 70 Dies After 30 Years in Moravia
Dr. C. T. Slavin, 70, longtime Moravia physician, died at home from a heart attack. Born in Downing, Missouri, he moved to Moravia in 1918 and bought Dr. W. R. Day’s practice. Survived by wife and two sons, Hale in Las Vegas and Capt. C. N. Slavin in Philadelphia, plus two grandchildren. He served 18 years on the Moravia school board and was recent chairman. Funeral plans await arrival of his sons.

Moravia youths over 12 interested in becoming Boy Scouts will gather Thursday night April 1 at 8 p m in the Moravia American Legion home for the first meeting. The sponsoring group formed a troop committee with Chester Broshar as chair man Bert Turner as secretary treasurer Wayne Davis ascutnaaten and Clark Hellyer as assistant scoutmaster. Mrs. U. S. Hiatt Fractures Arm in Fall
Mrs. U. S. Hiatt of six miles south and east of Moravia fractured her right arm Monday after falling from her porch. She was transported to St. Joseph's hospital in Centerville for treatment. The bone broke between the elbow and shoulder, and the Hiatts recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mr and Mrs Harvey Broshar celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their Moravia home with eight children 14 grandchildren and many relatives. Mora High Plans Busy Senior Yearend Activities
Mora public schools announce a full end of year schedule led by the junior senior banquet at the high school this week. The senior prom is scheduled for April 16 and the senior play Hob Goblin House on April 22. Awards take place at the senior chapel April 28 with class prophecy read. Easter baccalaureate on April 25 and commencement address April 27. About 44 seniors are expected to graduate in the class of 1943, one of the largest in school history.
