Murderer Maglione Dies in Stillwater Penitentiary

Gelsimino Maglione, who murdered Pasquale Ferrero in December 1893, died today in Stillwater penitentiary from consumption while serving a twenty year sentence. Reports say he would have received a gubernatorial pardon today had he lived. The crime occurred behind a warehouse near the Chestnut Street depot, with five shots fired, including a final shot as Ferrero died. Several witnesses were present.

Murder at Fifth and Pine Streets Sparks Trial Details

Insurgents Attack Spanish Unit Near Nuevitas

From Havana word reports 800 insurgents led by Rodriguez Lopez and Recio attacked Capt. Borrego's 72 man Spanish column near Nuevitas. Lieut Ardieto and 29 Spaniards were killed. nine wounded. Borrego and four men escaped while the rest were captured.
