The Woman's Club will send a bundle to the Armenians via Ed Jackson Secretary of State. Citizens are urged to donate clothing or money and send items to the library by Wednesday October 4. Requests include warm garments bed covers and shoes as cold weather looms.
Public chicken dinner in the Masonic dining room Saturday evening September 3 begins serving at 5 30 price 50 cents under the auspices of the Auxiliary of the Eastern Star.

The Mooresville Womans Club opened its first meeting of the year with a plate shower for the library kitchen. Members contributed plates and a total of about one hundred items plus a stove from the Bay View club. The program committee hosted the afternoon and a discussion on happiness versus ancestors followed greetings by President R D Sellars. Doris Wilson sang with Mrs. Harry Hadley at the piano. The room was made homelike with oriental rugs lamps and fall flowers.
The Likely club held its first meeting at Mrs. Harry Hadley’s home with President’s Days. A four course luncheon was served and red carnations were given as favors. Members’ pictures were taken as former presidents reviewed past events and outlined plans for continued American Literature studies.
The Bay View club met at the home of Mrs Will Farmer on September 21. Mrs Rees Coster presented lantern slides on Roman history and Master Lorenc O Bannon played violin lessons. Alpha Farmer of Lauderdale was the afternoon guest. The club will meet next at the library on October 5.
Miss Lulu Young and Mr. Pegram wed Friday at Utterback Co in Indiana. Rev Trueblood officiated at the ring ceremony. The bride, a High Point teacher for five years, and the groom, World War veteran, will reside in High Point, North Carolina after a Cedarhurst family dinner.
Geologist Dr. W. N. Logan of the state conservation department says explosions reported on H. C. Carter’s Morgan County farm near Brooklyn were landslides in knob stone caused by saturated base shale during rain. Rocks shifted and trees were uprooted and displaced up to 100 feet in the gulch.

The Monrovia dedication of the new Community Building and Memorial Hall on Thursday October 5th marks a landmark in local progress. Prof Stanley Coulter of Purdue University will deliver the principal afternoon address and Claude E Gregg will speak at the evening American Legion meeting. The event promises large attendance, music, entertainment, and ample food as residents celebrate turning the building over to citizens and soldiers.

Chas Thomas chaired with speeches by G P Bondwasser Hewitt Nutter and Judge Williams. A big picnic dinner followed and plans were made to hold a similar meeting next year in Spencer with J O Baker as committee chair.
