The lecture course committee met at Wilson and White store Tuesday night and chose Cb. B. Johnson as sales manager. Vic will be assisted by twenty people as tickets go on sale. Season tickets for five numbers drop from 2.59 to 1.00, children's tickets are Toe, and students pay 5e.
Mr. and Mrs. Hick Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Holaday hosted a Miles family gathering on East High Street in honor of Tom Miles who turned 74. The annual celebration brings relatives from Clayton Bellville and Anville for a festive meal with a 74 candle white cake as centerpiece.
KF A Sweetman piano tuner will be in Mooresville the first week in June or July. Those wanting to find, leave orders with Walter Thompson.
Local notices cover a barn removal request and various visits and illnesses. Names include Harry Hadley Judith Phillips Bertha Munson Mabel Barnett Serena Mills Cal v in Bellows and more. Ads mention horse and buggy for rent and Reeves workshop styles.
Nine members of the Dewees and Cooper families attended a reunion at the Towh park last Sunday. Out of town relatives included H G Dewees and son Glen of Jackson Michigan and J C Dewees of Kokomo. Fred Cooper was elected president and Mrs Adbort Harvey secretary treasurer for the coming year. A forty five foot table displayed a large picnic dinner during the noon hour.
Rally Day exercises invite attendance at Friends Sunday School next Sunday with music, readings, and solos. Morning worship at 11, topic Lost Opportunities, evening service at 7 50 with Sowing and Reaping, Centennial Day noted and additional services listed.
Last Sunday night the Epworth League held a successful program with several specials and a larger crowd. A three-part instrumental piece impressed attendees and future plans include violin solos, mixed quartet, duets, and a youth-work discussion by Boo A. Leasen of Indianapolis.
Mooresville installs a center intersection post at Main and Indiana directing drivers to keep to the right when crossing or turning. The measure targets the busy business district to improve safety and flow.
The Ladies Aid Society of the Christian church will collect old papers and magazines next Thursday.
Mrs Harry Williams hosted a birthday doll party for Virginia Gale Williams eighth birthday with ten friends. A noon arrival followed by a three course luncheon, golden reed table decor, yellow bell favors, and a pink cake with candles. Guests included Mary Ellen Simmons Mad Louise Reeves Mary Esther Cox Louise Stephenson Thelma Martin Opal Hebron Margaret Manker Clara Lee Myrtle Steepleton.
Hon. John A. Adair, 41, Democratic candidate, spoke in Mooresville attracting a small audience due to short notice. Republicans from here attended Indianapolis to hear Charles E. Hughes, their presidential candidate, amid large crowds. Democrat Wim. A. Cullop spoke to a fair crowd at Dreamland Theatre last Friday.
The Christian church plans an All At Home Day with roll call after the morning service and a meal in the basement. A program of vocal and instrumental music will follow. An evening hog roast is announced and all members urged to attend along with temperance interest groups. An all day meeting is set for October 3 with calls for mothers to support women’s duty and rescue.
Members of the Penn Brotherhood held a regular meeting at a Friends church on Wednesday. Special services were provided and Rev Willard O Truckseed of the First Friends Church in Indianapolis delivered an address. Social hour followed with punch and wafers served.
The Bay View Club held its first meeting of the season at Mrs. J. W. Miles home with twenty five of thirty members attending. Mrs. Jesse Wilson, newly elected president, outlined this year’s work while Ida Fegleman read a club history dating back sixteen years. A Riley Day is planned for the next meeting at Mrs. Alden Hadley’s Monrovia home on Oct. 5.
Mrs. Alvin Munson of Indianapolis donated her family library and related old volumes for exhibition at the library from Wednesday September 27 to Saturday September 30. The display will feature age worthy books, with older volumes forming an antique corner along with donations from Chas Mills. The library board thanks Mrs. Munson for the generous gift and invites more old books or relics.
A hardware store run by W. Te. Wilson advertises last of season prices on oil stoves. The notice urges customers to act now to secure savings on oil-burning stoves before supplies end.
Four Indianapolis youths aged about fourteen to seventeen hired a horse and buggy in Indianapolis and sped to Mooresville. Marshal Beeler and Cleo Apple pursued, the rig fell, the boys hid in a corn field, were captured, jailed, and later released by mothers from Indianapolis. Three youths fined $1 and costs totaling 85.07 each.
