Engine Hits Truck at Crossing Injuring Driver near Vandalia
An engine running backward struck John Cosand’s truck at a rural crossing two miles east of town last Saturday evening. The wrecked truck left Cosand badly injured with a fractured skull and other injuries. He was taken aboard a southbound passenger train to St. Vincent’s hospital in Indianapolis and is expected to be released home in about two weeks.

Naval exhibit draws locals as three-ship display visits
A train of three exhibit cars carrying a miniature submarine a torpedo boat and a chaser paused in town after arriving via interurban.
