The school year begins with 548 students enrolled by Tuesday evening and more to come. The high school has 137 pupils with 29 seniors in the senior class. Classes are full and seat adjustments will take several days as teachers and pupils start the new term.
Members of the school board and their wives hosted an informal reception for teachers at Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Wilson's home on Monday evening. J. H. Mills presided over a brief program featuring remarks, duets, a quartet, and a "played school" observation test, followed by refreshments.
Local items record Miss Edith Hadley hosting the 20 club Wednesday. Kenneth Nelson of Huntington visits W. H. Sage family Friday. Antonin Alford of Eaton weekend with James Barnett. Various residents travel, teach, or move residences as community life continues.
Merle Long, a high school graduate and well respected local young man, died of typhoid fever on Wednesday at the home of his parents Mr and Mrs Otis Love on West Main Street. The funeral arrangements were to be made after the body was moved to the residence of C R R Wilsen for general plans.
A market proceeds Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in F. E. Carlisle's store to support a Rest Room. The event invites every woman who needs the facility to participate and help ensure its continuation.
The inaugural Parent-Teachers Association session met in the high school assembly room Friday evening. Walter Thompson's orchestra played well. Rev J W Collins gave prayer. Mrs C O Watson spoke on the purpose of PTA meetings and J H Stephenson on appreciation of the public school. Prof K M Dixon, Mr Spitler, and Miss Elsie Record offered remarks on teacher parent relations. A profitable social hour followed. Officers for the coming year will be elected at the next meeting.

Republican Oscar PL Bhan candidate for the district seat will speak here Tuesday evening at 7.50 oetimeack. He is listed as a candidate for the position and residents are invited to attend the event.

A wedding was solemnized Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Seearce. Their daughter Helen Adila married Arthur J. Haltom of Phoenix Arizona. The ceremony featured fern and floral decorations with a greenery altar and a harp prelude. Attending were relatives from Indianapolis Cincinnati Chicago and Danville among others. The couple left for a trip to Chicago New Orleans and El Paso.
