Explosion on Carter Farm Near Brooklyn Sparks Oil Claim
On a hillside near Brooklyn Indiana a series of oil and gas blowouts has racked the Carter farm. Edward Barrett, former state geologist, calls the events oil shale gas pockets and says a gas buildup may have caused the blasts. Carter plans a farmer owned company with $200 per member to drill further and awaits state geology review. Rainbow Bend hosts attract visitors with chicken dinners and a stocked lake for bass, while levees are built for a larger lake and future sailboats.

Tilford Antrim died at his home on East Main Street after long illness. He was born May 26 1854 near West Newton Indiana and lived most of his life there before moving to Mooresville in 1818 with his wife Flora Denny and daughter. Funeral services were held at West Newton M E church with burial in West Newton Cemetery.
