The first entertainment of the season, organized by the Senior class, took place Monday evening at the gymnasium. The Melody singers performed old time melodies with readings, delivering a well received program before a representative audience.
Mrs Amanda Greeson and others attended the district meeting at Meridian Street Church on Wednesday. The gathering in Indianapolis featured a day of inspiration with several excellent addresses delivered by society members and leaders.
Miss Ruth Stephens daughter of David Stephens and Myra Clem Church wed John Church son of Mr. and Mrs. Pears at W Davison home by the sea on a Saturday evening at 6.00. They shared dinner with the bride’s sister Mrs. Ralph Kemp after the ceremony.

Will Apple was treated to a birthday surprise at his Burgersville home Sunday. Relatives and friends gathered, bringing food and cheer. Attendees included extended families from Brazil Friendswood Lebannon New Augusta Stinesville and local households.
When E F Alexander returned home from church Sunday morning a gathering of friends and relatives assembled to mark his birthday. Attendees included Abel and Ray Thompson and Ralph Thompson with sons from Indianapolis, Thomas Brown from the local area, Arthur Holt and infant from Heltonsville, and Sarah Alexander with Everett from Plainfield. They departed late in the evening wishing him many more.
A. E. Crawford learns of brother Jasper Crawford's death in Martinsville. Funeral conducted at home by Methodist minister with Red Men assistance. Surviving widow and son Glenn of Indianapolis. other Crawford relatives attend. Church notes report 212 in Sunday School and nine new members.
Citizens of Eminence Monrovia and Mooresville petitioned for a state highway to connect with the Cloverdale road. Lawrence Lygs director of the State Highway Commission visited the county with other members to review the proposed route and hear local citizen input while farmers and residents advocate for the project.
B F Jones reports the death of Cecil Beasley 17 from tuberculosis after seven months illness. Funeral at M P church Saturday at 2 pm conducted by Rev McKinley with a choral quartet and floral tributes. Attending mourners included multiple out of town relatives and a list of local names in attendance.
High school notes report girls treating Wednesday afternoon as a holiday while some teachers surprise classes. O Bannon challenges economics class with a morbid question. Riley program thrills.
