A rainy weekend halted corn planting for several days. Community items report guests visiting H C Carter, illnesses, a near horse loss from overheating, rising rats harming chicks, Children’s Day prep at Mt Gilead, and commentary on Indiana wheat yields and egg prices around one cent.

Robert Wynn traveling from near Pethesda to Clermont Aarion county lost control on a hill on Plainfield road by a school house. His two horse wagon overturned destroying about 100 dollars of furniture. He sought town liability for lack of warnings lights. Town board surveyed the scene and reportedly agreed to compensate for the loss.
Friends of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Britton planned a pleasant surprise last Friday. Sisters Mrs. Frank Lacy of Siloam Springs Arkansas and Mrs. Jos Randolph of Leonard Oklahoma attended with siblings. Music by Helen York Norris Britton Dess a Murry and young Marland Hadley and Frank Lacy sang. Cream and cake were served as guests enjoyed the evening.
Rev. Thos. C. Brown will preach at the Friends church on the upcoming Sabbath hour. Memorial Day address to be delivered by Rev. J. W. McFall. A. R. and Red Men will meet at J. H. Rusie’s hardware at 1 pm then march at 1:30 to the cemetery for the address and decoration services. Bring flowers if possible.

John Wilson sues James R. Harper and the Mooresville town board seeking a declaration that Harper's fence is a nuisance. He seeks $100 damages, alleging the fence blocks the street for his family and neighbors, Harper refuses to remove it, and the town board won't rescind permission to maintain the fence obstructing the highway.
Deborah Lindley and her son in law and daughter from Mooreville Indiana visit Alva Oklahoma to meet Mrs Reams in a joyful reunion that drew attention as Emory Jones and wife from Burlington Oklahoma traveled with them. The 76 year old aunt Lindley and the 26 year gap added charm to the scene witnessed by fellow passengers.
Henry Free 20, an employee of the Terre Haute Indianapolis & Eastern Traction Co, was killed instantly and Elmer Holycross had a leg broken when a construction car moved slowly and knocked them under the wheels while distributing crossties near Friendswood. Free died at the scene. Holycross was hospitalized in Indianapolis and is recovering.

Indianapolis rumor says Louis Chevrolet, the famed Franco Swiss racer and former road record holder, will return for the 500 mile International Sweepstakes at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Memorial Day May 30. The $25 000 gold prize and $10 000 top purse entice the daredevil, despite a Vanderbilt Cup crash last October that killed his mechanic.
Bert Adams is nominated to drive a McFarlan Six in the Indianapolis 500. He previously drove McFarlans in 1910 and found success at Atlanta Speedway. He is building a special race car at the Connersville factory and will bring it to Indianapolis for a May test.
Ralph DePalma, the mile track champion of 1910, is busy racing in the west and plans to travel to Indianapolis for the 500 mile race next Memorial Day. He remains one of the sport’s busiest figures as he prepares for the prestigious event.
Ralgh De Palma the Simplex mile track champion will pilot a Simplex 50 in the 500 Mile International Sweepstakes at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race occurs on Decoration Day May 30.
