Woman Demonstrator Appointed Home Demonstration Agent

Mareena Wendadll of Vardue University named home demonstration agent for the county. She met Martinsville with the county committee last week. Miss Kendall will mirror county agent work handling women’s interests across townships including diet and tax matters in the northern counties.

Program of Commencement Week at Local Schools

The program begins Sunday evening May 4 at the Methodist church with Rev. Brown delivering the baccalaureate and the Methodist choir providing music. On May 7 the seniors present a class play, Miss Somebody Else, at the high school. later events include a class program with three orations and a prophesy. Friday May 2 features the commencement with music by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and a class address. The list of graduates includes Clarice Bart s, Harry Float tight, William Teatright, Dorval Jackson and others. A recent Star item noted the death of Melvin I X Davis in Sinceleton, Columbia, on April 6.

Armazu Theatre opens in Monrovia this Saturday night

Moving picture showman J Mithon brings his Arcadia program to Monrovia for a new Armazu Theatre opening on Saturday May 16. Performances will run on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday each week.

Baccalaureate Sermon Program at M E Church

Services at the M E Church next Sunday evening feature a full program with hymn selections a scripture lesson a male quartet and several solos and choral pieces. Bay View Club closes year with reviews and plans

The Bay View Club held its final meeting of the year at Mrs. Rees Coster’s home. Members heard a review of Meredith Nichols’s Valley of Democracy and a talk on American folk music with performances. Officers for 1919 20 include Sutton, Smith, Hadley, Coster, Batts, Fogleman, and White. The program ended with an angel food demonstration and dessert. The coming year includes parliamentary drill Indiana writers Home Economics and music.

A Delightful Evening at Bucker Home in Bethany Park

Miss Mabel Bucker entertained her Junior class in purple and white decor at Bethany Park bungalow Saturday. After games they moved to an island camp fire for a weinie roast, then returned for ice cream and cake served by Mr and Mrs Bucker.

Pioneer Hazelwood Man Jacob M. York Dies at Eighty

Jacob M. York, over eighty years old, died Friday after spending the winter with his daughter Mrs. Charles Turney. Mrs. Hick Jackson, sister of Mrs. Turney, accompanied Mr. Wilson. He was an uncle of J. W. York of this place.

Anniversary of Poca hontas Council celebrated

The sixth anniversary of the Poca hontas Council was observed at its hall with a visiting Indianapolis team conferring a degree on twenty candidates. The hall featured wild flowers and a two course supper of pressed chicken sandwiches pie coffee ice cream and cake followed by departure of guests after a very pleasant evening. The home team reported weekly work since early winter and described the order as flourishing.

Milk producers to organize meeting at library hall
