The W C T U of Morgan County held its annual institute at the Friends church in Mooresville on Tuesday March 28 1916. Attendees included nine ladies and one gentleman from Martinsville and three from Morgantown. Addresses by local pastors emphasized current temperance goals and future constitutional prohibition. Mary Woodard of Indianapolis spoke on equal suffrage. The event featured student recitations and music and included an essay titled The Cigarette Evil by Paul Taylor. Funeral notices and local updates followed including the death of Lucinda Dillon aged 20 and Clark Harvey’s move to automobile livery duties between Monrovia and Mooresville.
Next Wednesday the ladies' missionary society will host guest day at the home of Mrs. C R Wilson with Mrs. B FE Daily in charge. Attendees from Indianapolis included Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tadley and several others. a strange 17 year old girl was seen on the Greencastle bridge all day before fleeing when approached. Pocahontas Lodge to hold a market and bazaar Saturday April 1 at Boatright Grocery.
The Ladies Aid Society of the Christian church asks for a carload of old papers and magazines to be donated for church benefits. Call phone No. 8 to arrange pickup or drop off.
Mrs. Carl L. White and Mrs. Chester Koladay hosted the Bay View club last Thursday with a concert featuring Martha Patterson of Martinsville, Alice Ballard, Dorval Jackson, Ber nice Bodenhafer and others. Luncheon followed and honor guests included Mrs. V. A. Magenheimer and Conrad Gentry with a full committee listed.
Franklin Hardin marries Quincey Kep hart. He a farmer of Johnson county and she a Morgan county resident. Jesse G Earnhart weds Blanch Rosa. He a blacksmith living in Martinsville. William N Redwine to Inez Ames. He a railroad worker of Indianapolis and she a Martinsville resident. Willard Anderson to Ena Scott. Both farmers in Morgan county. Marshall Hacker to Lasha Vernon. He a mechanic, both Morgan county residents.
Wastern Star members called on Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Hadley Wednesday night as Mrs Hadley, Grand Matron, hosted a gathering. The Hadleys will summer on their Warsaw area farm while Mrs Tradley plans to travel home for the school break.
The Mothers department of the Woman's club met Monday to discuss The Problem of the Son and The Problem of the Daughter. Mrs. W. L. Jessup opened the discussion. Mrs. Mark Adams was elected president with Mrs. Al. Pointer as vice president and Mrs. A. J. Hylton as secretary for the coming year.

The Aid Society of the M. E. church will hold a market and bazaar the Saturday before Easter on April 22 featuring goods and refreshments for community fundraising.
A Trinidad correspondent reports that government rewards for mongoose tails failed to curb the pest. The program spurred breeding schemes and even fraud as villagers hunted for tails and sold them repeatedly. Rewards collapsed after exploits showed the drive was counterproductive. The mongoose, imported to halt rats, then preyed on poultry and birds, and even insects surged.
