An infant of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Kirk was buried Sunday. Three funerals were held at Mooresville cemetery last Sunday as area residents mourned.
Arrangements for a grand Fourth of July celebration include a parade with prizes for graceful lady riders, decorated rigs, and a grotesque “Tad.” Subscriptions total $105 with more expected. Events at 1:30 include sack, three leg, goat races, girl’s throw, barrel and wheelbarrow races, nail driving, a 3:30 ball game with a $5 supper, 7:30 band concert, and $330 in fireworks.
Town board met Tuesday with all members present. Ed NelsonBond of 1000 was approved with sureties Ed nyon D W Lestee J W York and Charles Cook. Marshal ordered to keep stock from town park and inspect street repairs next Monday. Dr W L Thompson reelected to school board. Notices for remonstrances published for sidewalks on Clay Street east of High to Washington and on High Street south side one square east of Comer Scearce Co warehouse.
Demolition and relocation of old structures on Main Street underway for G A Keller to erect a new business block. One storeroom moved to Indiana Street as temporary space, drawing objections from neighbors who fear loss of business and street ugliness. The town board defends the move as temporary, citing eventual benefits of the new block. The building dates back 64 years to Alexander Conduitt era with past uses as residence and later a business room and photograph gallery upstairs.
Mooresville youths attending Purdue University plan to return home this week for summer break. They will help with farm work and may engage in local farm duties during vacation.
A touching memorial service was conducted Sunday evening at the Friend's church for Harry Hammel who died in Upland California the previous Sunday. A letter from Frank Allen describing Hammel's last words and faith was read. Messages were sent to friends in Mooresville as Harvey Allen led the gathering with praise from Klarry's classmates.
