Local notes cover entertainment at Dreamland theater remodeling, dinners with friends, visits from Sam Parks of Ohio, a house party for Marguerite Sage, and trips to Indianapolis and San Francisco Exposition. Community members attend meetings, sales promotions begin, and a road accident injures Mr Evens and Mr Lindley.
About 100 people rehearse daily for Three Chauffeurs a clever musical comedy to be staged Wednesday evening Aug 4 at 8 o clock in Town Park auditorium for the benefit of the Mooresville library. The plot revolves around mistaken identity with Melinda Pike drawing applause for a modern routine. The show features clever choruses and drills and promises a lively program. General admission 25c reserved seats 35c children 15c.
The Mooresville Concert Band will perform weekly on the public square each Thursday night in August. Funds come from local business men. Following the recent watch drawing at Fred Cooper's jewelry store, friends ask Chas Swearen gin about the time.
Mrs J M Davis and daughter Mrs Trotter visited relatives in Indianapolis last week with plans for a continued visit. Guests include Miss Chamberlain, Dr Ragan and Clinton family. Local families from this place joined trips to Cataract and Lincoln visits. Missionary Berst family to China to return in September. Margaret Manker hosted a seventh birthday party for seven girls with games and cheer.
Section I of the W H M S will hold a lawn tea at the home of Mrs C L Hallam next Wednesday afternoon August 4. Each member may invite a friend to attend.
Friends and staff gathered to honor Charles L. Jessup on his first anniversary as general manager and collector for the Rio Grande Hardware & Machinery Co. The event in July featured a porch reception at his home, a Mexican band, a feast of roast duck, flowers and flags, and a cake with fifty red candles. Jessup, born July 4 1865 and named for Lincoln, praised his patriotic spirit as firm leaders from San Antonio spoke of long friendship and presented a Thermos outfit.

Rev and Mrs Gorya entertained their Sunday School class at home on Tuesday evening replacing Bethany due to threatening weather. The orchestra class enjoyed singing and music with guests Mrs Lyons and family Mrs Robt Nelson Mr Harry Hadley Miss Reed and Miss Townsend among them.

The Official Centennial Commission of Indiana calls citizens to unite for a memorable 1916 centennial celebration of Indiana’s admission to statehood. It asks civic, business, religious, and educational groups to promote Indiana history and to coordinate with presses, libraries, and historical societies to engage the public in the commemorative year.
Uniformed waiters in trains with dining cars serve light lunches of fruit sandwiches coffee and pastry to passengers in their seats. The plan, tested and now extended west of Pittsburg and to select stations, aims to meet food needs without passengers carrying lunches. Average cost per passenger is under 15 cents, with hundreds of thousands served annually as an auxiliary to dining car service.
The town reports a glut of apples with homes giving fruit away. J. P. Calvert has a basket on his lawn labeled Help yourself, kept full as neighbors take fruit and he replenishes it immediately.
