Purdue University professor G L Christie praises Mooresville Schools for their Domestic Science program led by Miss Lucy B Hawk. He states the Mooresville outline will be published in the state course of study and lauds Miss Hawk as a high class teacher whose work should stay in the front rank.
A barn on James A. Barnett’s farm on the Waverly road was hit by lightning during a noon storm last Sunday. The fire destroyed hay, 400 bushels of corn, harness and farm implements. no livestock were harmed as the Barnetts were away at Friends church. No save was possible.
Program for the W C T U meeting to be held at Mrs. Mattie Sumner's home on the first Tuesday in August includes songs such as All Hail the Power and Throw Out the Life Line, scripture reading by Sada Day, prayer, the paper The Power of Mother Influence by J W McFall, and readings and songs by Sallie Sellers Alice Randall and Fannie Hobson. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Hoosier Motor Club colors Indiana roads with white bands on telephone poles marking turns and crossings from Indianapolis to Crawfordsville Greensburg Shelbyville and Logan sport. Clubs seek city adoption to extend this highway guidance for motorists and visitors across the state.
The town board held a regular meeting on Tuesday July 16 with all members present. The committee reported for Young and Hadley that the cafe and lunch wagon licensing ordinance should be enforced strictly. Vehicle ordinance passed. The tax levy was set at corporation 40c light 30c water 15c road 25c 15c work bond 10c total 1.20. The board authorized a 500 loan from First National Bank at 6 percent to the corporate fund payable within six months from August 1 1912. Adjournment followed.
The regular old settlers meeting will be held at the usual time the second Tuesday in August. This year it falls on the 13th. The venue remains Lenden Hall's Grove, east of town, the same as last year.
Sunday evening services at the Friends church will resume with a program by the Friends Choral Society and Orchestra. The event, directed by Walter A. Thompson, includes organ pieces, anthems, scripture reading, prayers, and a brief address.

Mrs. F. E. Carlisle and son Donald visited Mrs. F. A. Likely in Indianapolis Tuesday and Wednesday. Josephine Likely joined them for a brief visit. Mrs. Jennie Zerbach and son from Chicago visited her mother Mrs. Caroline Bucker and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Bird Shufflebarger and Arthur and a brother visited Oscar Shufflebarger. Mrs. Minnie Mills Hadley and Mr. Benjamin Anderson, both of Plainfield, were married Tuesday July 16 and went to housekeeping on Anderson's farm. Miss Grace Bayliss Edna Allen and others visited Ora Carter in Maywood with several Indianapolis guests.
