Last Friday afternoon Mrs Pleas Mills and Mrs Harley Richardson hosted a shower for Mrs Sandy Martin at Mills home. Mrs O P Macy led fun contests while guests enjoyed punch Nabiscoes. Mr and Mrs Martin recently moved to the Cash property on East Harrison Street.
The a transcription shows several marriages licenses issued to residents including Piet and Prebiagwatpolis Mit Duncan, Williate Andersen, Indianapee, Mioress Parker, Nellie Live. The list appears in a ceremonial city notice format with names and ages.
Part of the pupils of Mrs. B F Jones will present a recital at the library next Monday afternoon July 16 the public invited to attend.
Hubbard Scearce Lumber Co lists delivered lump coal prices for Mooresville Indiana and nearby sources. Indiana 5.75 Pittsburg 7.75 Campbells Creek 8.00 Harlan Kentucky 8.00 Red Dragon 9.00 Smokeless Mine Run 8.50. Recommendation for furnace use is mix of half Red Dragon lump and half Smokeless Mine Run at 8.75 delivered.
Mew and Mrs. Stanley Petri and son James visited Mrs. Amua Dobbins and family for a Sunday afternoon gathering.
The Farmers Street Bank marked its fiftieth anniversary with open house in Mooresville. Four hundred thirty stacks called in, roses sent for AW Hadley, memorials from Charles Sellers of Indianapolis, and a display of bank history for visitors. Mrs Hadley and local women assisted in greeting guests and serving refreshments.
The organization plans a large state gathering here tomorrow with delegates and members from out of state. A big barbecue will be held at the Manker farm on the Mormrovin road, providing a social highlight to the event.
A group gathered Wednesday evening at the Parst National Bank in Plainfield for a birthday event honoring Hicham Yolodha who marked thirteen years with the bank. Attendees included H H Leathers E Anderson Walter Kellum Reuben Aldrich and EL L Hutchens with H W Lindley sending regrets. A large candlelit cake highlighted the gathering as guests enjoyed the evening.
Everett Ennis arraigned in circuit court on intoxication and operating while intoxicated charges, fined £100 and 30 days at State Penal Farm. Case filed April 2 for crash with Indianapolis riders. International Harvester Co wins $283 against Charles Allison by default. Minnie Beasley sues for divorce from Ellis Horton Beasley. Other notes include notes cases settled, sales reports, and receivership matters with various sums and fees recorded.
Friends Church announces a Friday closing for Vacation Bible School with an exhibit and picnic from three to six. Hand-work by children on display from three to six, picnic five to six. Ladies Aid adds playground equipment. Weekly services include Sunday School at ten, worship at eleven, Christian Endeavor at seven, and prayer meeting Thursday. Anti-Saloon League Day noted at evening service with Dr E S Shumaker as speaker. Girls Chorus to sing.
An echo meeting at the M E Church on July 10 discussed State Sunday School Convention reports. Delegates urged stronger worship training and a roll class for younger children, with Cradle Roll Sunday and Home Department Sunday to be unified for Children’s Week.
The Choir of the MoE presents a special program next Sunday evening at 7:45. It features a male quartet, male chorus, solos, mixed quartet, and chorus numbers by the choir. Lovers of good music are invited to attend.

Morgan county sheep raisers finished their yearly shearing about two weeks ago. Reports indicate average fleece weight around 14 pounds per sheep and rising wool prices due to favorable crop conditions in South America. About a third of local growers belong to the woods growers association selling to the Ohio Wool Growers' Association, while others sell to local buyers.
The town board names John B. Wilson to run concessions and stands for the Old Settlers day on August 14 with assistance from Marshal T. H. Greeson. Arrangements for a band speakers and other attractions are underway.
The Vacation Bible School reports 75 enrollees and will run one more week. Next Sunday services include Class Meeting at 8:45, Sunday School at 2:30, worship at 10:45, with J S Shumaker state superintendent of the Anti Saloon League speaking. Epworth League at 6:45 and a choir program at 7:45 led by Ezra Hutchens, minister.
State Superintendent Shumaker of the Anti-Saloon League will speak at the MorS Church Sunday morning on deeds. The public is cordially invited to attend the meeting.
Gray & Company sold the Waverly general store once run by Jap Jones to Charles F. Cline of Indianapolis. Cline took possession July 5, and Clarence Traub will remain as manager for Mr. Cline at the Gray & Company store No. 2.
The Morgan county teacher's institute will run September 3 to 7 per state official Maude Wells. Most county institutes occur August 27 to 31, with Johnson, Hendricks, Monroe, and Brown counties holding sessions in late August or early September.
The Indiana state tax board in session at Indianapolis announced hearings on tax equalization for Morgan Monroe and Owen counties will be held July 27. Assessments of state units are scheduled around July 23 to 28 with initial petitions from corporations heard at the first meeting. Farmers Trust Company and Fidelity Trust Company were the only Indianapolis firms before the board on day one.
Fr. and Mrs. W. H. Newman purchased a duplex in Indianapolis and moved into one apartment to supervise repairs. They have rented their bun salow to Hal Kitchen for the winter while Mr. Kitchen builds a new home on the lot on East High Street recently purchased from Walter Thompson.
