Local newspaper item outlines the Young Old Settlers organization planning an Old Settlers Picnic on August 10 1909 at Conduitt grove with officers including Dr W L Thompson J H Rusie and Nat Williams. It notes nearby travel routes and promises no final program yet with future announcements and includes varied community notices from Vincennes Mooresville and Indianapolis about meetings sales and visits.

The Republic of Cuba established a Bureau of Information appointing Leon J. Canova as director. Canova, an American journalist resident eleven years, will provide free information on Cuba by writing to the U and I Bureau in Havana under the Department of Agriculture, Commerce and Labor.

Mahlon Dewees and family entertained Indiana guests including Miss Hazel Thompson and Miss Daisy Thompson at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Tresslar near Waverly. The group enjoyed dinner, an afternoon automobile ride, and praised the hospitality received.
