Missionary Society Observes Tenth Anniversary

The Missionary Sunday School of a Christian church marked its tenth anniversary at Mrs. Chis Ferguson's home with Rev. Howard Cousin installing officers for the year. Mrs. Chauners Wilson recounted the society’s history, noting its origins and growth, as members in Japanese costumes served refreshments. A new member joined the group.

Fourth of July at Colonial Heights with Miss Scruggs

Bay View residents and families celebrated Independence Day at Colonial Heights the country home of Miss Eliazehbeth Scruggs. A phenic sipper was served on the lawn followed by cake coffee and punch. AT participated in entertainment that created much merriment as guests gathered for the evening.

Indiana University earns reserve officers honor for military training

Seven hundred students at Indiana University earned creditable marks in the reserve officers training corps during the past year. Ohio State Purdue and DePauw also received recognition from the Army Reserve program. Under Major R. B. O'Brien the university’s military unit has gained individual and unit honors at the summer training camp in Knox Ky.

Mooresville Schools Adjust Start Date for 1922 23

The Mooresville public schools will begin September 4, 1922, moving back one week from August 28 to fit the County Institute. The move was urged by farmers to allow boys to help with spring farm work. The 1922 23 faculty includes Superintendent M. N. O’Bannon and Principal Miss Vinnie M. Denny, with multiple teachers listed by subject and room assignments. Miss Denny becomes principal, bringing degrees from Valparaiso University and Indiana University, after four years at Bedford High School.

Drowning at White River Near Blue Bluffs

Miss M E Borem and Miss Irena Hines were swimming with Fletcher Hines at White River mouth of White Lick Creek near Blue Bluffs. Hines died aiding Borem while Borem and another man were rescued. Sines, a Meyer Packing Co salesman from Indianapolis, disappeared during search efforts that followed.
