Wv. D. Richardson a 61 year old hotel keeper on east Harrison street near Indiana died by hanging in the barn behind his hotel early Thursday. He used a new rope and stepladder to reach a beam and his wife found the body about 6:30. Remains to be buried Saturday in Pittsboro Hendricks county.
L. E. Ballard announces ongoing notary services for all, inviting the public to register before it is forgotten. Citizens are urged to mail or deliver registration papers to the county registration board at Martinsville.
Notice that F. A. Sweetman the piano turner will be here one day next week. Those wanting pianos tuned should leave orders with Walter Thompson.
Mrs. R C Moore visited friends in Indianapolis on Monday. Rex Shuflebarger and his wife mourn the death of their infant son who died Monday night. Will Elliott traveled from Indianapolis to visit relatives last Sunday.
Mrs Frank Burris visits Indianapolis. Harlan Plunkett and family visit Martinsville. Lost shepherd pup and gold rimmed glasses. For sale stove eight acres timothy meadow. Cars sold to Brown Wilks Trafalgar and Overland touring car to J Shaffer family moves to Indianapolis. Various visiting relatives and inquiries noted.
Statistics from the Campbell Circular Advertising Co show Morgan county has 1220 automobile registrations up to July 1, 1917, far above last year. George Pratt of Martinsville led the county with the first registration. Elijah Wallace of Stilesville was the last with Buick No. 67131. Indiana total is 167181 with license G7181 as the last.
Carl Phillips and Ethel Thomas both of this county obtain a marriage license. Paul V. Storment, a Salem Ind jeweler, to Goldie Inez Fishel daughter of Martinsville residents. George James Berry a grocer from Indianapolis to Marie Ritchie daughter of Paragon residents. Oscar M. Ford superintendent of the Chase Foundry and Marie McKinley daughter of Luther McKinley, a telephone operator.
The Friends Church of America plans reconstruction and relief in war torn regions. A Civilian Red Cross Unit of 100 men will go to France, followed by a women’s unit, with total annual funding over 200000 dollars. Rev. C. O. Watson declares the church’s mission and public role.
The final assessments for oiling High Street are now due and payable to EK. F. Hadley town treasurer at the Farmers State Bank. If not paid now interest will be charged until payment is made.
Rev W O Trueblood will speak at Friends Church next Sunday evening on the subject Preventing the Next War. The address promises insights on peace and global conflict prevention.

Mooresville residents celebrated the Fourth with decorated porches from Indiana to Jefferson, Red Cross headquarters at the library, and two vaudeville performances raising about $60 plus over $100 in additional Red Cross donations. Local committees reported strong cooperation and hope for a new era of Independence Day observance.
Lincoln R. Jessup, once of West Newton and later Bloomingdale, disappeared six or seven years after leaving a wife and three daughters. Now in Sidney Australia he has applied for a U S passport through the Consulate General and claims American citizenship, with J W York referenced as proof contact. One daughter lives in Virginia and another in Michigan. two daughters have married since his disappearance.
The Children’s Day exercises of the M. P. church will be held Sunday evening at 8 o’clock. Hyverybody in vited.
