The community reports many visits and family notes including pneumonia in Harriet Stout's daughter, Elvin Wheeler returning from Florida, and multiple house and room offers. Local events cover alfalfa hay sales, W C T U and M E church activities, funerals for Mildred Bellows, and reminiscences from Joe Allson of Marion visiting Monrovia era routes.
The Parent Teacher Association schedules next Tuesday at the school house. Dr Hurty of Napolis India will give an illustrated lecture on sanitation preventable diseases and the need for medical inspection in schools.
Ora J. Ennis an insurance agent marries Ida J. Goss a Morgan County resident. Ezra Bingham a Martinsville laborer wed Dessie P. Mahbee of Martinsville. The record notes status and residences for each pair.
In the basement of the M E church a bean banquet was held after a Sunday School contest. The school had split into two teams led by Dr Hallam and Frank Bass. A voyage from New York to Palestine formed the theme with two ships, a blue and a red, as centerpiece decor. Toasts by Rev P W Corya A C Payne supt of S S Frank Bass and C L Hallam, with remarks from H H Leathers Captain Bass Mr Schopmeyer Bro Corya J P Calvert B F Jones and A C Payne.
The Mc Cracken hotel hosted a relic and antique art exhibit by the Woman's Club music and art section. despite heavy snow, attendees enjoyed wooden canteen, silver coin, old china, home made textiles, spinning wheel, quilts, and two child crafted pieces. social guests included Mrs. Hendren and Mrs. Cantwell. The club's literary department met and praised Hawthorne and Eugene Fields. The mothers' department schedules a meeting on Feb 1.
Commissioner William O Shufflebarger will private sale on or after February 1 1915 at the First National Bank of Mooresville of the William P Park farm 156 acres more or less on the Mooresville and Waverly gravel road. Terms require one half cash and balance in six months. The W F M S met Friday afternoon with Mrs Anna Record.
At H W Lindleys hardware store the Majestic range display concluded with a jar of nails on show. Crowds guessed counts from 500 to 10 000 before a tally found Frank Leitzman the closest with 1859 while 1851 nails were present.
Two girls class at the M. E. Sunday School hosts a taffy pulling event in the church basement next Wednesday evening. Admission is 10 cents, which includes a plate of taffy and a good time. Everyone is invited.
Announcement states Edna Charles of Plainfield and Earlham College senior will marry Halford Hoskins Earlham graduate of 1914 now teaching in Virginia. Hoskins home is Carmel Indiana. Charles part of Mooresville High School class of 1911. A job ad seeks a local worker for a magazine house with good profit potential. Reverend David Hadley of Danville died age 72 after heart failure January 21. He served at Whittier Danville Carmel and Mooresville churches. widow Mia survives. Funeral conducted by Earlham president Robert L Kelly.
Mrs Eliza Cox died suddenly at the home of her son Scott Mann near West Newton last Saturday. The Retail Lumber Dealers Association of Indiana met at the Claypool hotel in Indianapolis Tuesday and Wednesday with H C Pearce reelected secretary. Attendees included Mr and Mrs H C Scearee Mr and Mrs T W Randall Mr and Mrs Walter Edwards and Mrs Lillie T Branch. A theatre party was held Tuesday evening for the ladies.
The State Board of Forestry offers forty dollars in prizes for essays on Forestry in Indiana. High school and grade students may win 12.50 for best and 7.50 for second best in each group, writing up to 2000 words in ink on white paper and mailing by May 1 1915 to Elijah A Gladden Indianapolis Ind. More information and rules available on request.
A revival at the Friends church in Mooresville led by Rev. Pell drew many attendees. Heavy snow began Friday morning, hindering travel as the season’s first major snowfall persisted into the evening. Mrs. Sarah J. Edwards remains homebound due to poor health. Mrs. Sarah Keys and son Ernest visited near Monrovia with Mr and Mrs Carl Keys. Mr Hinesly and family, formerly south of Bethesda, moved to Mooresville last week.
Mr Walters of Paragon assists in I and VR R office during D C Morgans illness. Mr Charles Thornberry shipped a car load of cattle and hogs Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Tom George moved in with Webb. Mrs Fliza Hoskins visited Mrs Luther Stanley last week. Mr and Mrs John Routon attended the funeral of Mildred Bellows at Mooresville Sunday. Misses Katherine Rouquet Leta and Lillian Shute Mrs N S Shute and son Duane spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs S S Sutton. Mrs Frances Rands ill in Indianapolis. Miss Bertha Wilson unable to teach this week due to illness. Mr and Mrs BE Stanley of Jampa visited Luther Stanley Tuesday. Mrs Harley Corlett Carl Corlett O O Williams and daughter Louise and Mr and Mrs Frank Thompson on sick list past week.
