Rev Forest Crider assists Rev Bennett from Athen Illinois in a revival at the M. P. church. Bennett shares his testimony of salvation from a drunken life. Last Sunday twelve came to the altar and ten sought church prayers with Sister Edna Eubanks assisting and preaching midweek.
Arthur Kidwell a farmer from Johnson County and Goldie Kephart daughter of William Kephart exchange marriage licenses. Fred A. Fields son of John L. Fields and a rural letter carrier marries Gladys L. Hiser daughter of Robert Hiser, both of Brooklyn.
A. L. Wheeler announces daily arrivals of a chest car at the Anthracite yard and will take orders until the car is sold out.
Henry Hite and Wilson Smitherman announce a public sale at 10 a m on Tuesday February 6 on the Harriet Cox farm six miles east of here. Horses mules cattle hay corn and farming implements to be sold. Auctioneers Col G R Brown and W N Brown with J S Moore as clerk. Dinner served by the Mt Olive church Ladies Aid.
W. H. Henderson trips to Lebanon Tuesday. Mrs. Flora Rariden sells cook wood and Oak table. Mrs. Flora Rariden and Mrs. V. A. Magenheimer visit Indianapolis. Birth of a daughter reported for Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wilson of Plainfield. Local society notes and farm ads plus church attendance and recollections on Morgan County history.
Charles Doien sold his saw mill and moved it to Johnson county. Marion Fields and daughter Mrs. A W Rusie Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Fields and Mrs. Mary Jessup attended the funeral of Mrs. Andrew Fields at Brooklyn on Wednesday. Mrs. Fields was eighty years old and a sister in law of Marion Fields an aunt of Mrs. Rusie and grandmother of Herbert Fields.
Notwithstanding rising stove prices, W. H. Wilson continues selling heating stoves at last year’s prices. Come and see.
Mrs Daisy Barr and three assistants head a vigorous evangelistic drive at the Liberty Methodist Church. A 300-man Sunday meeting drew the largest crowd in years as she outlined an ideal man from a woman's viewpoint. Daily men’s meetings at Hughes store began this week, while women’s sessions attract growing attendance with topics on purity and Christian service.
Francis Hendry entertainer impersonator and musician will perform the last number of the entertainment course at the Christian church on Thursday evening of next week February 1. Do not miss hearing him.
The first union revival meeting will be at the M. E. church next Sunday night with Dr. A. R. Storms district superintendent preaching. Monday and Tuesday night services follow at the same location with Rev. Walter A. S luff man preaching Monday night.
An Epworth League school opened Monday evening at the home of Mildred and Lenore Brackney. Pupils dressed as old fashioned scholars carried slates and dinner pails. Teacher Reese Coster taught geography arithmetic and spelling then a literary program followed with songs dialogues and pieces. Coffee and sandwiches were served before dismissal.
The pipe organ committee expects a Wicks Organ Company representative in Indianapolis to inspect two organs and place the order early in February. Donations grow. total subscriptions now at 2142.50 with an expected extra 400 for a four foot arch clearance, plus 400 more needed to reach 2400.
