Emma Thompson rents rooms and a barn. Revival services open at Friends church next Sunday evening. Many visits span Indiana towns from Bloomington to Edwardsport. Dreamland theater announces vaudeville next Tuesday with four acts and pictures.
New fixtures added to the post office equipment by Mr J E Matthews, owner of the building. The fixtures will save time and labor in handling mail matter and are handsome pieces of furniture.
The stockholders of the First National Bank met Tuesday and elected directors and officers for the coming year. They are the same as last year: President Geo. R. Serugers, Vice President El H. Agflerson, Cashier H. H. Leathers, Assistant Cashier W. O. Shufflebarger, Directors T. B. Rooker, R. D. Sellers, C. L. Hallam, John Gibbs, Eli Hi. Anderson, and Geo. R. Scrages.
The Music and Art department plans a social reception and art exhibit at the McCracken House on Saturday January 23 from 2 to 6 p.m. Admission is 10 cents for adults and 5 cents for children. For those with heirlooms or antiques to exhibit, contact Mrs Harry Hadley Mrs Krank Jones or Mrs N. V Jones.
The T A I and EE Traction Co asks the State Commission for power to set a straight two cent per mile fare to equalize charges across all distances. Current rule uses five cent blocks and extra mileage after 2.5 miles, creating odd pricing. The firm plans to offer forty trip mileage books at 1.25 cents per mile, valid 30 days.
Geo E Allison traded his local grocery in town for the Brooklyn store then swapped again this week to William and Ralph Tresslar for their Brooklyn area grocery. Allison had owned the town store and earlier exchanged it last February for the Tresslars Jennings county farm. The Tresslars reclaimed the Worthington farm, trading it for the Illinois farm, reestablishing Allison with the town store while the Brooklyn shop is run by William Tresslar and Mr and Mrs Ralph Tresslar stay here.
Mrs. F C Stimpsen of Terre Haute will address the Women's Club at the Christian church Monday at 2:30 PM on civic reform. The event replaces the regular meeting and is free to all men and women. Special music planned.
Lindley’s Hardware Store promotes a one week showcase with a special offer valid from January 1 to January 23. The notice cautions against requesting the bargain outside the demonstration period.
Mrs O St Schopmeyer came home late last week from Bowling Green after an extended visit with her parents there. Her sister Miss Letha Schopmeyer accompanied her back for a visit here.
The PTA held its second meeting at the school with talks from members and a planned debate on government ownership of railroads. Basketball results featured the second team beating West Newton 111 to 86 and the first team defeating Oakland 53 to 17. The second term began with schedule changes. visits from Roy Woman and Mrs. Ralph Jackson occurred, while Mr. Jones attended Purdue short course delaying agriculture classes. Burk missed Thursday and Friday due to illness.
Mr and Mrs H G Burdge of Pittsburg Pa visit relatives as they mourn the death of Prof A Andrews a former boy from Watsoka Ill His death brought shock to all who knew him He was the only child of Captain and Mrs Abraham Andrews and a descendant of a prominent local family The funeral was held in Watsoka with Mrs Andrews and the aged father receiving sympathy from relatives and friends including visitors from Indianapolis St Louis and Plainfield

Mrs Mabel Edwards York and her daughter from Portland Ore visited Mrs W A Cox Tuesday. York plans a brief return visit home as husband Milts York, recently moved to Elwood and bought the undertaker’s business he had sold years ago. Prof A C Payne received a telegram from Dr Henry Snyder of Jersey City N J asking him to join the program for the National meeting of School Superintendents in Cincinnati in February. The request honors Payne and Mooresville Schools.
