Bonita Conduitt has scarlet fever after a prior fall illness. The attending physician calls it the most clearly defined scarlet fever case this winter in the community.
Mrs J A Shufflebarger is sick with a bad cold and a scarlet fever case is reported on South Street. several residents visit relatives, farm sale planned for February 15 with 12 months no interest terms. multiple acknowledgments include trades, store openings, and church notices.
A reception was held Monday evening at the Christian church to greet Rev. Clark and his family. He will preach at the Christian church every other Sunday, both morning and evening, during the year. A good crowd attended and a social time followed.
Earl Bray aged nineteen son of Mr and Mrs Oliver Bray was crushed when he fell under a moving wagon wheel on the Monrovia road near town. He tried to dismount while the wagon was in motion and slipped from the double tree. He died the following day.
A Christmas period incident left Harold with a severe eye wound after Robert Sellars accidentally shot him with an air gun during play. The bullet struck the skull beside the eye and glanced across, initially threatening sight. Daily medical care has been required as the eye remains inflamed.
Stockholders met Wednesday to reelect the directors J L Matthews J J Reeve W B Hadley E F Hadley and A W Farmer. Officers named are J L Matthews president J S Reeve vice president W W Hadley cashier and E F Hadley with Carl L White as assistant cashier.
Mansfield Engineering Co of Indianapolis began work Monday on a new single story brick garage and auto salesroom fronting 2714 feet of Indiana street and extending east 80 feet. The reinforced concrete building will be fireproof with a concrete roof and will be occupied by Harry Hadley’s wood and ware stock.
About 300 guests attended the Masonic hall event last Thursday with speeches by Rev. Clarke of Brooklyn and Judge J. W. Williams of Martinsville, songs by Pearl Bradley Helen Hadley and Desmanda Reiman, a two course luncheon by Lena Talgart, and music by an orchestra. Out of town guests included Brooklyn visitors and Mr. and Mrs. Cal Wright of Indianapolis.
Wm Bray died at the home of Mr and Abs Allen southwest of town last Friday evening about six o clock after paralysis from Christmas Day. His grandson Wart Bray died in a wagon accident around the same hour. Funeral services were held Monday at West Union church where many friends attended. Bray was well known and respected and survived by five children.

Likely Club members hosted nearly a hundred friends Monday afternoon from 2 30 to 5 at Mrs Herry C Scearces home. Miss Wilhite of Indianapolis played the Aeolian harp while red and white ice and elaborately decorated dining room offered refreshments. Immortelles adorned the table and a red bouquet served as a souvenir. Out of town guests included Laura Belen Cicomington Suiss Jennette Edwards Mrs Spoor Mrs Rinker Brooklyn Mrs Wallace Jessup and Mrs Ambrose Jessup of Friendswood.
Dr and Mrs Hollingsworth visit Dr and Mrs E K Pfaff in a friendly social call reported in the local society column. The meeting highlighted community ties and shared conversations on health and neighborhood affairs.
James P. Henley of Henley & Hadley, Monrovia, went to Indianapolis last Friday and vanished. Rooker met him there the same day and Henley later sent a note saying he would not return, with no location provided. The sudden departure unsettled Monrovia where he was well regarded and finances were reported sound.
L. E. Stone will hold a public sale of livestock grain feed farm implements and related items on his farm around February 1. The sale is a genuine closing out event as he has rented the farm and will retire from farming. Twelve months without interest will be allowed to purchasers. Attend this sale.
Louis G. Poehls, a dentist of Indianapolis, will practice his profession at the office of Drs. Thompson and Magenheimer on Tuesdays and Fridays each week.

Mrs. Schurmann returns east Harrison street property to Martha Harvey and plans a public sale of household goods before a move to Virginia. Miles S. Hadley dies at 83 at his daughter A W Farmer's home. funeral at Friends Church. Ladies Aid Society hosts a open house with cedar decorations and a Christmas table. funds raised about six dollars.
