Bay View club meets January 8 with Mrs. W A Lyon. Mrs. W A Von Canon returns from Lafayette. Rev Mary E Ayers holds revival at Antioch this week. Wendell Hadley visits from Danville. Miss Sparks visits with C E Gregory near Gasburg. Various local checks on health and travel including Scearces, Sellers to Terre Haute, and many holiday gatherings. Electric lights and city water desired by renters.
The Pennsylvania railroad company agreed to pay Charles Shrake and his two daughters 1000 dollars to be shared equally after the death of Mrs Shrake struck by a passenger train on October 22. Funeral costs of 100 dollars and 150 dollars to attorney James M Bishop were also covered. Dr F E Mark er was named administrator to finalize the settlement. The lawyers described the deal as avoiding a costly and lengthy suit. Pleasant relations persisted during negotiations.
