A Tuesday old settlers gathering drew attendance as large as prior years. The day was bright with a mild breeze and pleasant weather. Many former residents returned to meet friends, with more amusement stands than before. Autos were common, with nearly a thousand machines parked nearby. Horse drawn vehicles were few and the grounds were well ordered.

Richardson Bros have relocated the former Public Service Co plant to their Harrison street location near the Vandalia railroad. They plan an ice house and new machinery including a 50 hp motor, with manufacture not likely before next year. The brothers will keep their car business at the same site.
The annual Morgan County teachers session will be at the Central building in Martinsville from August 22 to 26. Supt Elect I M Kenworthy, taking office August 16, will select talent and lead the institute with lecturers on literature pedagogy physical training and music.

An affidavit filed in Circuit court cites Dr Edward D Argenbright of Gosport and K I Nutter cashier First National Bank alleging he forged his father A E Argenbright's name on a 1500 dollar note. Other items include divorce and estate actions, administrators named, and a will probate with listed beneficiaries.
The Morgan County Farm Bureau announces a mule race at the County picnic in the rear Bethany Park Grounds starting at 9 30 sharp. Mules must be partly broke to avoid driving into cars or fences and should start from a standstill for a one block race. Prizes: $10 first, $7 second, $5 third, $3 fourth. Entrants send names to Holly Gillaspy of Brooklyn Indiana, official starter.
Murha Shufflebarger of Johnson County spends two weeks with grandparents Mr and Mrs J A Shulebarger while her mother Mrs Frank Shuffilebager and youngest daughter Jean visit a married daughter Mrs Jacobs in Canon City Colorado. Mr and Mrs White of St Louis Missouri have visited Deborah Lindley sister Mrs Eli White and Ed Lindley family for two weeks and return home Friday morning. Everett Milien and daughter Ruth leave with the Whites for southwest Missouri, stop with Mr and Mrs White, then go to Springfield Missouri to visit Allen's father's family.
Horace C. Hadley died Sunday evening after over two weeks of illness from liver trouble and complications. He was 40, survived by a wife and son, mother Mrs. Dora Hadley, and sisters in Evansville Memphis and Indianapolis. Funeral Wednesday at 2:30 at the North Indiana Street home with Christian Science reader Mrs Ballard. Interment Mooresville Cemetery. Out-of-town relatives from Evansville Memphis Indianapolis Monrovia attended.
Chicago resident J Milton Richardson, formerly from Mooresville, writes that the local Mooresville colony there is thriving. He notes a hot summer, and that he sold his East End avenue apartment building last week for a profit exceeding $8,000, predicting a broader Chicago real estate slide ahead.
Livestock entries are pouring in for the Martinsville show to be held September 1 through 3. Entries must reach theCounty Agent's office by August 20. Exhibits will be staged at the Davis Cooperage Warehouse behind Branches Grain and Feed Elevator with ample quarters for stock and visitors. The pig club show for boys and girls is planned for Friday September 2 with 57 members already planning to exhibit.
Arrangements are underway for a large crowd at the Sunday School and Farmers Picnic at Bethany Park on August 19. Children will be grouped with supervised leaders for safety and activities while a County Young Peoples Rally is held in the afternoon with Wayne G Miller of Indianapolis as State Superintendent addressing on Life with a Kick. Lifeguards will patrol the lake for swimmers and a designated meeting place will host the Young People’s Division.
About seventy five relatives attended the Ward family reunion at the Town park on Sunday. Attendees included Rev John A Ward Rev John F Ward and family of Evansville Mr and Mrs Harry Ward and children of Clairmont Mr and Mrs Walter Ward of Terre Haute Mr and Mrs Will White and two children of St Louis Missouri Mrs Ets Whited of Ohio Mr and Mrs John Allen Mr and Mrs Albert Ward of Indianapolis. A dinner followed by songs speeches and a reading. Rilo Ward presided Orpha Marley was secretary and Lucile Atkinson treasurer. The day was one long to be remembered.
Next Sunday will be the last Sunday before Conference with preaching at Antioch Sunday morning after the Sunday School hour and at 7 30 in the evening. Everybody is cordially invited to attend these services. Geo. W. Carnes, pastor.
