The trial of Mme Marguerite Steinhell, accused of murdering her husband and mother, opened at the Seine assize court in Paris. Interest spiked after delays, with thousands seeking admission tickets and many from the provinces. judges reportedly received 26 000 letters.
Cloverdale Indiana November 3. Attorney John C Akers former editor of the Cloverdale Graphic was wounded by guard Jerry Bunning who fired as Akers allegedly burglarized Denny's general store. Akers escaped, later home confrontation with wife required restraint. Police found stolen goods and Akers posted a $1000 bond for preliminary hearing.
In Mcleansboro Illinois on November 3 Cleveland Riley killed his brother Frank Riley after a dinner table dispute. Cleveland seized a shotgun in another room and shot through an open doorway. Frank died four hours later. Cleveland is jailed in the county jail.
In Ensley Center Michigan on November 3 Clyde Bowen, 23, is jailed after a posse captured him for fatally slashing his wife in the throat. Officials say jealousy sparked the crime. Bowen attempted suicide with a throat cut but survived.
Vancouver reports two masked highwaymen held up the Cariboo stage at 150 Mile House and stole several sacks of registered mail. The robbery was carried out by armed suspects in a bold daytime assault. Police investigations are underway.
A house near Harper, Marscott County, West Virginia burned killing four members of the Head family the father the son the daughter and the granddaughter.

William C Brown, president of New York Central which includes the Big Four, says Warriner may have taken over $100,000 with exact figures to come after several days of audit.

A Pine Grove butcher Daniel Schoke killed his wife and 12 year old daughter then died by suicide. Judge Mann, confederate veteran and temperance advocate, is elected governor of Virginia. Jones and Laughlin plan large scale tin plate entry opposing the steel corporation. George Nix of Oglethorpe County Georgia was murdered in his sleep. robbery suspected. Sergeant J D Manney of Dallas, who killed Louis Reichenstein during President Taft’s visit, seeks release on habeas corpus.
Oscar F. Cochrane once a bookkeeper at the American National Bank Indianapolis was arrested at Ft Slo Cum N Y on federal charges of embezzling 7000 in 1907 and falsifying bank books. He had vanished in 1907 while the bank depositor was shifted and a bogus account in Horace Burke was created. He now serves as a regular infantryman and faces extradition.
In Morocco Indiana Jack Rowley found a bee tree and marked it as owner. The landowner rejected the claim and Rowley was later accused of assault when a trio cut the tree. He was acquitted after a lengthy circuit court trial. The tree yielded six ounces of honeycomb after costs reached about 350 dollars.
In Bedford Indiana on November 3 Albert J. Fields a Democrat won the mayoral race over Republican John D. Stipp by 290 votes Republicans also captured the city clerk post and two council seats in the election.
Kokomo Indiana voters elected J. L. Puckett mayor by 306 votes on November 3. The Republican ticket won the majority of remaining offices, while Democrats carried the rest of the ballot.
