Voter turnout apparent in the city election with Wilken Tillett, Republican, winning the First Ward as other wards show varied results. Detailed ward tallies list first ward 687, second 290, third 309 with party splits and margins noted across districts. statewide notes mention Republicans gaining several cities and Mayors elected in multiple locales.
Monticello residents will host Bishop William A. Quayle in the Presbyterian church next Monday evening at eight. Tickets sold fast as towns nearby expect a large crowd for his lecture on Tekel and Air, Life and De Tha, Bassett era. The event draws similar interest from readers recalling his prior sermons and the chance to hear a renowned preacher.
The Oriole at 120 East Broadway opens as a needlework and knitted novelties shop run by Mrs. F. R. Phillips and Mrs. Luther He. Visitors can find woodware, crafts, and Christmas orders. the venture aims to welcome all Monticello residents and White County patrons to a new local shop.
Mig and Mrs Wilson McCulloch and David Lilly returned to their home near Monticello after the death of Mrs J A Lilly following a long illness. Mrs Lilly known as Clara McColloeh before marriage was a sister of Wilson McColloeh and taught in local schools. Interment was in Cincinnati.
In January 8th week, Firmill & Co presents Sparkwood Collars at Hamita's for sparking bargains at the Bargain Center. The center proclaims large stock and low prices with banners declaring Bargain Center stands for bargains.
Seni annual gathering of White County Partners Aviation drew farmers from across the county at the courthouse. Speakers included Keni G Brown and F Hall with Red Cross and Purdue University staff addressing tax and civic campaigns. A school pumpkin show, corn and fruit displays, prizes, and a silver cup prize for the 187 pound pumpkin highlighted the day.
Miss Linnie est, a Red Cross nurse from Couty, is a patient at Home hospital in Lafayette after a fall at Bag netsville Monday. She sustained a dislocated ankle and was taken to the hospital for care. the injury will require immobilization for a week. The accident occurs as the Red Cross Roll Call proceeds.
Raymond Berry and Fern Rotruck wed Sunday November 6 at the Presbyterian church manse on South Bluff Street with Fer H T Wilson officiating. Fern Rotruck is daughter of D W Rotruck of near Buffalo and recently attended local high school. Berry son of Ethel Berry is an ex service man who served in the 34th Division and was the youngest in his company enlisting at eighteen. The couple receives community good wishes.
Dr R T McLandress of Indianapolis will speak at the Presbyterian Church Sunday at 10:45 a m. He heads Sunday School and Young People’s Work in the Synod of Indiana and will bring a message vital to Young People’s work. The pastor will preach in the evening service.
After Monon voters backed the Citizens' ticket on a water works platform, the ticket won by margins from 264 to 300 in a total 583 ballots. The text also advertises HAMILL & CO. Ladies' silk goods and RAMILL & CG All-wool coats at $20.
Tenmueb Cohee an elderly Norway resident died after a car accident near Joan El nere store Saturday. Flossie Cottingham started the car and a road rat caused a lurch throwing Mr Cohee to the ground striking his head. He died Sunday morning. survived by widow three daughters and two sons. funeral Tuesday at Norway Cemetery conducted at ten.
Letters from White County report the Mens Bible Class monthly gathering at Frank Harmons home with retreatments served. Rev Wagner in Wolcott and Idaville area youths plan an echo meeting at the Church of God Sunday afternoon with a Methodist church session Sunday night inviting all young people.
In the White Circuit Court a compromise ends a will contest over the late William Ti Hamelle. Margaret Hamelle and Sarah Youn eget each 1500 plus 500 bequests, Harriet L Glasgow receives residuary estate, and Caroline Scowden gets 500 plus 7000 for administration. Plaintiffs pay own witnesses. remaining costs fall to the estate. A 3000 settlement to plaintiffs is to be paid on November 21 1921 to attorney George W Kassabaum.
Special from Brookston notes TE A Stew art and wife celebrated their fifty year marriage with about fifty guests. The home featured gold and white decorations with yellow and white chrysanthemums. Best man James Klepinger and bridesmaid Viola Fastman Stewart attended, as they did fifty years ago, and a cafeteria lunch was served at noon. Many gifts and congratulations were exchanged.
Rev. C. R. Brown of the Baptist Church has received and accepted a call from a large Clinton church. He tendered his resignation Sunday evening and will serve here through December first.
The Jeena chapter of the Kuapna Keppa Siena Sorority joined the Grand Council meeting at the Community House in Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. Members from Indianapolis included Ludell Beaumont Agnes Williams Helen Morton Minnie K Brown Florence Wilson and Vs tele Carr, while local chapter attendees were Carolyn Chamberlain Pearl Little Flavel Carr Esther Burns Sadie Mahin Alice Flora Ann Younger Louise Strantz and Edna Wolf.
Mary E. Weise of Reynolds born December 30 1892 at West Point Indiana died November 5 1921 aged 29 years 10 months 6 days She was married to Henry C Wiese on June 11 191? and had five children Chas Daisy M Pauline Robert William All except William and Robert are deceased Funeral services were conducted by Rev Lindhorst at the German Lutheran church Man Moy at one oclock
Rev and Mrs BE DeWitt Johnston begin a revival at the city Methodist church next Sunday November 13 with services nightly except Monday. Sunday services at 10 30 AM 2 PM and 7 30 PM. A strong chorus choir led by Timean Kerr will enhance the meeting.

Three month old Winston Winifred and Wilfred Wingard have become the city’s most popular visitors since arriving Friday. Born August 8, 1921, to Mr and Mrs Orin Wingard of Hammond the babies have attracted crowds at the hospital and at the Wingard home on Railroad and Harrison. Weighs at birth ranged from four to four and a half pounds. present weights are seven pounds plus for each. Crowds by day totaled 336 visitors over the period, with 26 Friday and 109 Sunday attendees.
Seventeen competitors finish the five acre contest in White County. William Hagen wins the silver medal from the Indiana Corn Growers and a silver cup from Monticello National Bank. The cup stays with the winner a year then returns to the bank for the next year’s top yield. The cup becomes the property of someone who wins it three times. Bronze medalists listed follow.
White County residents are urged to join the Red Cross as the organization funds a free public health nurse visiting schools. The message notes no county taxes fund Red Cross activities and highlights local health findings, urging enrollment during the November 13 14 15 roll call.
Announcement of the death of Anderson Thompson Virden a longtime White County resident. He died in Fruitdale Alabama on October 25 at age seventy five. Born in Tippecanoe County 1846 he lived in Chalmers Monticello and nearby areas before moving to Fruitdale in 1898. Survived by wife three brothers and one sister. Local ads follow.
The County Board of Education will meet in the County Superintendent's office next Monday at 1 p.m. to select a county agent with open opportunity for views. Mr. T. A. Coleman will be present as leader. State Inspector BL B. Wetherow will inspect White County schools Thursday visiting high schools and some grade schools.
