Miss Mary Emma Holladay of this city wed Eson Graham Heffner of Chalmers at the local Methodist parsonage Saturday night. The ceremony was conducted by Dr. T F Bassett. The bride, daughter of Charles and Mary Holladay, works with the White County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Heffner, a farmer from Chalmers, will reside on their farm southwest of town.

Salvation Army Band To Play In Monticello Saturday
The Detroit Salvation Army Silver Band, a 35 piece ensemble of unpaid volunteers, will give a concert Saturday afternoon at 4 30 from the band stand in Monticello. Envoy Earl Ellis will perform a nine foot stilts exhibition. After Monticello the band tours to Logansport for a 7 30 p m show.

Robert Barnes Dies After Illness At 79 In Burnettaville
Robert Barnes died at his home south of town Sunday morning after a several months illness. He was seventy nine years old. He leaves two sisters Mrs. Lavina Eldridge and Mrs. Sarah Drake and one brother Wm Barnes of Indianapolis. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the home and interment was made in Cedarville cemetery.

Fire destroys farm structures east of Hopedale
A severe blaze on Charles Peterson’s farm near Hopedale Saturday wiped out two straw stacks two loads of unthreshed grain two wagons the separator barns and sheds. The threshing outfit blower started the fire owned by John Shafer and heroic effort saved the house. Most furniture from the home was damaged while insurance coverage is unclear.

Gypsies Run Off After Hostile Welcome In Locality
A band of travelers visited the area last week and were met at a door by a woman with a shotgun who ordered them to leave. They then attempted to rob two wagons, a cream wagon and a hunter wagon, but the drivers resisted and nothing was taken. The group traveled by auto.

At a hearing before Justice of the Peace E G Smith in Buffalo Ora Kessle claimed a motor from a boat. Danford and Gilsinger admitted buying it from a stranger for twenty five dollars and favored Kessle receiving it after costs. Kestle proved ownership by the motor number and received the motor after paying costs.
