The Tenth District Algieri Legion announces a public meeting on February 15 at the Strand Hall in Vase City. Commander Nautico of the American section will preside, with programs including a public event and social sessions for attendees.
The Commercial Club held a regular meeting in the Legion hall Tuesday evening. Officers for the county seat were elected: President Fred Z. Biederwolt, vice president Carl J. Russell, secretary Ob. G. L. Ehuore, treasurer Fred Bowman, with directors Hama, Barnes and Spencer Capon.
Miss Merle Ackerman daughter of Mr and Mrs Z L Ackerman has been chosen as new music and art director to succeed Miss Tuth Vogel. Ackerman, a Northwestern University alumna with jewelry design experience in Buffalo, begins duties February 9 after a week of transition and will visit with Vogel to review years of work. Vogel, popular with students and staff, resigns after three decades of service in Jacksonville.
A farewell themed gathering on the first Wednesday hosted by a local family featured guests including Mrs Lloyd Dridge, Clyde, Mrs Mande Burns, Mrs Hinshaw, Mrs Godlove and children Merle Velda, Harold Heward, and others. The event included a demonstration by Miss Gaddis of Purdue University and a presented dress form, with the hostess Mees Lantz set to move to a new locality.
The committee report to the Board notes backwater from the dam will not harm the drainage system and finds bridges are already in poor repair. It recommends a survey of the backwater and inspection of bridges, with final findings to be shared at the next meeting of the Farmers' association.

Discussions cover real estate revaluation and farm land values sent to Indianapolis February 23. Extra music by the Montieero high school band accompanies sessions.
Harry Crane, held in Cass County jail after intoxication conviction, was re arrested last week on illegal liquor possession. Brought to this city before Justice TL W Alford he pled guilty and, unable to pay fine and costs, was returned to Logansport jail. Affidavit sworn by City Marshal James R Fowler. H C Johnson & Son advertise ample farm land loans with low rates dated November 3 1911. The notice references a Chevrolet promotion and announces spring offerings at The Fair with music shop ads and new goods including beads girdles and ladies' coats.
The February term of the White Circuit Court will convene next Monday with Judge B F Carr presiding. Jurors for three weeks include Paul Carr Big Creek Harriet A Thorp Round Grove Cloyd L Delinger Princeton and others. Grand jurors were drawn but names remain private under court rule.
The Liberty Township Farmers Association met at Culler Creek Tuesday evening and approved a resolution on taxation rural road funding and cooperative marketing. The capture of a still near Buffalo led Sheriff Price to Monticello for safekeeping.
A room on South Main Street, last occupied by Daniels Cray Motor Sales, was rented last Tuesday to Martin Popejoy of Delphi. It will soon house a bakery and various auto and farm equipment brands including Hlaher tractors, Ke tractors, Republic trucks, Gardner and Chevrodet autos, and Yeoman, W. Hhircraves, and Ceneo light Wants products.
The Round Grove Tome Bureau will gather at Mrs. Asher Dilts home next Thursday for an all day session to craft dress forms. Also notes Chevrolet cars via Chas W Hargraves Yeoman. 1-19-6t ad promotes standard count pereales at THE FAIR with 20e per yard.
Several ladies attended the Home Bureau meeting at Theadle Wednesday afternoon. Miss Lele Gaddi demonstrated a dress form and helped organize Cass County with Mrs. James Small as president, Mrs Tessie Baker vice president and Mrs Emma Bayles treasurer. Mrs Bell Phebus died suddenly Monday age seventy, cancer noted on the face and survived by four children. Funeral at Methodist church Tuesday at 2 oclock conducted by reverend Waune.
Mrs. O. A. Scipio presides over a Purdy University Extension event in the Presbyterian basement where Miss Gaddis speaks to town ladies. A home bureau is formed with officers Mrs. Even Hefner, secretary treasurer Mrs. Heema Ranh, and sewing divers. Sun plies ordered and an all day session planned, exact date to be decided.

A Friday night fire in Idaville, caused by a defective chimney at Mitchel Shoop’s home, raged out of control, destroying the house and contents. The flames spread to the nearby livery barn and to the Sam Rover residence, with Rover’s furnishings saved and most barn contents saved except some hay and corn. A large crowd aided by Burnettsville and Toaville fire units fought the blaze.
County commissioners met for three days to decide road suspension and viewers’ costs on the Cass Township Eldridge Road issue. Petitioners seek a one year halt and permission to build. engineers and survey actions were discussed with Pulaski County officials. A related petition concerns Renek Road improvements and a proposed 24 foot wide right of way from City Park south to Broadway.
Meo and Mrs. Bo Vogel of South Pawson Street announce the approaching marriage of their daughter Ruth Vogel to Milton Willer of Akron Ohio. The wedding is set for the present month with Mr and Mrs FOP Miller of Clifton UL.
