Grant E. Thompson took his own life Friday afternoon with a muzzle loader gun near the river by the Belasch area. His body was found Sunday by a son of I M Rodman, with evidence the shot was fired by his toe after removing a shoe and stocking. Coroner’s jury in Monticello ruled the death a suicide. Thompson, born July 28 1848 in Warren County Wisconsin, had long suffered mental impairment after a paralysis stroke and had lived with sister Mrs John Bates before his death.
