The Eilers farm south of Monticello sustained heavy damage as wind storm left little intact. Lloyd Welter now owns the farm and many trees were toppled with substantial crop losses reported in the Monticello area.
During the storm many trees were blown down including one that toppled onto a machine shed at the Clarence Shaffer farm located 342 miles northeast of Monticello on highway 151. A combine inside the shed was also damaged.
Cedar Rapids bids for pool reconstruction totaled 121 849 for deck work plus 1 189 for walks while rival D C Taylor Co sought similar scope. Engineers and officials debated whether the existing plan could be duplicated with a shooting method, with the panel hinting at a Paddock bid as preferable and outlining a 50 per day penalty if work runs past May 15, 1974.
