Selecting corn seed for vigor and uniformity in 1926 advice

Mr. Dyas urges choosing fully matured ears with sound shanks from upright disease-free stalks and avoiding leaning or broken stalks. He notes medium ear shank length and size, mid height, and selects four or five times the needed ears, with quick drying after harvest. Seed tests show higher viability when dried in a seed house versus a poorly ventilated drier. Selection of seed is highly effective due to corn variability and cross fertilization.
