Tumor Removed From Mrs. Dumont Death Follows
Anamosa September 25 1884 report details surgery by Chicago physician Dr Blakeslie and two assistants removing four ovarian tumors from Mrs Fred Dumont near Martelle. Largest tumor weighed over ten pounds and surgery lasted two and a half hours. Despite hopes she would rally, she died Thursday afternoon. Funeral held at Martelle with Elder Pye officiating. Several local notices follow about residents and town affairs.
