Fine School Building In Use In Lovell No 6
Miss Clara Schoon, teacher at Lovell No 6, recently moved her pupils to a new school building. The two-room rural school serves eighteen students, with a basement, cloak rooms, built in book case, ample blackboards, and a hot air furnace with ventilation. The interior features dark woodwork, oiled floors, and white lower walls with a Heritian upper color. The basement hosts a well lit playroom and fuel room, plus a storm cellar under the front porch. Miss Schoon aims to standardize the school and qualify for state aid toward improvements. The piece also notes Hopkinton Leader editor Dr W B Guthrie of New York visiting old homes and concerns about a hard winter and economic strain affecting employment.
