Bonded Debt and Education Reform Plans Detailed
The district reports total bonded indebtedness at 213 500 after issuing a 200 000 building bond and 15 400 existing bonds. Bond terms include 5 000 at 5 percent due 1992, 190 000 at 44 percent due 1942 with annual 6 000 payments, 8 500 at 6 percent due 1944, and 10 000 at 4 34 percent due 1944. Aiming for fixed annual levies, the board suggests 32 000 yearly to retire bonds, notes past two years used 18 000, and 17 000 yearly would finish the debt in 20 years with about 300 remaining by 1944. The last legislature mandates compulsory physical education in all public schools from kindergarten through high school with health supervision and instruction, offering modified courses for physically or mentally unable students. The program requires at least 50 minutes weekly throughout each term, with promotion/graduation ties and parental religious exemptions. The school board, superintendent, teachers, and majority community support the law. the district sought qualified teachers to implement it.
