Mrs. George Seehusen and Mrs. Clarence Stadtmueller hosted a Friday evening shower at the Seehusens home honoring Sharon Freese and Art Kromminga. Attendees included numerous families and relatives with gifts and cards exchanged amid visiting and social games.
A Monticello Democrat reporter notes Pogo aid to the Republican rally as tickets ran short for talks by Senator Hickenlooper and Congressman Talle. The piece frames local politicking, with GOP and Democrat figures cited and a community reaction across the scene.
Fifteen teachers attended a meeting at the Community building on Tuesday to organize a follow up session set for Tuesday November 20 at 7 30 p m in room two. Attendees were asked to bring ideas for children to gift parents.
About 200 residents paid respects to Dr. F. S. Griffin 73 who spent 48 years as a Baldwin physician before moving to Anamosa.
Sunday dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kromminga honored Grace Kromminga on her 16th birthday with guests from Davenport Bettendorf and Cedar Rapids. Grace won the birthday cake of the month at Thomas Bakery Monticello. Plan Pancake Supper and Harvest Festival noted at Peniel Presbyterian Church with plans announced for November 7 and October events led by church members and Rev. Rumbaugh.
Susan Stadtmueller was honored at a birthday dinner Sunday hosted by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stadtmueller. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. George Seehusen Eleanor Oltmann Ella Rickels and other relatives and friends from Cedar Rapids Portland and surrounding areas.
Mrs Irvin Fruehling and two sons of Cedar Rapids and Mrs Anna Seehusen of Center Junction were guests in local homes. Numerous visits and showers feature Mrs Everet Beitz and Mrs Sharon Freese at Hopkinton and Monticello Country Club. Cynthia Hanken marked her ninth birthday with friends and games on Oct 6.
Langworthy Sun Shine club met Tuesday at Mrs. Laura Englebart home with all members present. Guests Mrs. Gustie Helgens and Mrs. Matie Rickels joined in visiting and fancy work while refreshments were served by Mrs. Englebart and Mr. Jerry DeLarm family.
