Wyoming officials say construction of the first municipal sanitary sewer system will start by mid October. The plan includes sewer lines, a double lagoon and lift station on a 20 acre parcel from the William Koch trust southeast of Wyoming near Highway 136. Completion is expected in 120 working days with D and E Excavating Co. of Cedar Rapids the low bidder at 188 438 dollars ahead of rivals.

Damage suit seeks 5125.20 in Jones County District Court
Don W. Rickels of Monticello sues Howery of LaPorte City and Haas of Jones County for 5125.20 damages plus six percent interest from April 7, 1961 and costs over a 1957 Ford truck and attached grinder-mixer damaged in a collision on Highway 151 near Langworthy. The suit cites negligence for failure to maintain control horn and right of way. The unit was out of service 11 days.

Saturday features include a Public Trading Post and the first Monticello Dollars auction, with 18 prizes worth 700 dollars. Retail sales in Monticello for the year ending June 30 1961 totaled 7 811 309 a gain of 43 446 50 over the prior year. Monticello merchants paid 156 226 18 in retail tax. Hopkinton Woman Injured in Car Crash on Monday
Mrs. Marilyn Kirkwood suffered a broken nose and shock when her 1960 Ford was rear ended by a 1961 Buick driven by Fletcher Dunlap near the Billmeyer farm on a straight Hopkinton road. Dunlap escaped injury as both vehicles veered into a ditch and dirt bank.

Plane forced down in corn field near Independence
Vernon Barrack pilot for Cuckler Manufacturing Co. escaped uninjured when his Monti cello plane was forced to land in a corn field five miles northwest of Independence last Friday during a flight from Rapid City to the Mone ticello plant.
