The Monticello Sports Association plans a Thanksgiving party on Monday November 19 at 7 30 p.m. at the Monticello Gun Club. Dressed turkeys ducks and chickens will be awarded as prizes and tickets are sold by club members.
Dick Mango brings his orchestra to Cascade on November 15 and has been the featured artist with Benny Goodman Ted Lewis and Johnny Long. He appeared in Columbia pictures Is Everybody Happy and Three Cheers For The Boys and has played at the Biltmore Statler Beverly Hills clubs and on the Coca Cola Show. This rare opportunity showcases Mango’s fine musical stylings arranged for this event.

Mrs. Dora Brown of Des Moines has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Browne and other acquaintances in the area.
Sunday dinner guests included Mr. and Mrs. Jack Moran and family in Iowa City with Suttons. Kyle Alden returned from Holyoke Colorado reporting snow and ice detours. several families shared gatherings and hospital news. A large Clay township vote occurred at the Sutton schoolhouse with local election judges and clerks named.
Donald Topping has missed school this past week due to an ear infection. Kyle Alden attended the County Extension Council meeting held in Anamosa Wednesday evening.
A 38 year old Chief Gunners Mate Arthur F. Montroy and his wife and son were injured when their 1947 car pulling a trailer rolled into a ditch two miles east of Anamosa on highway 64 Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Montroy and son were thrown from the vehicle and Montroy was to Mercy hospital Anamosa for possible cervical spine fracture. Two other cars were damaged with no injuries in a separate crash on highway 64 at Fairview involving Walter Wesley Goodall and Robert Ireland.
