New Population Based Districts Set For Jones County Supervisors
A special Jones County Board of Supervisors session approved a plan to elect county supervisors by population based districts drawn from the 1960 census. The final plan reduces population variance from 1 276 to 268 and shifts from township to population boundaries, with three supporters Hanken Moran and Benischek voting yes while Mayberry opposed.

Lyman Thompson was re elected mayor of Wyoming on a write in vote receiving 123 votes. Robert Sommerville who filed for mayor got 59 votes. Thompson's write in bid followed his prior statement he would not seek re election. Total votes 197 with all councilmen reelected LeRoy Dirks Clarence Brown Galen Alexander Clarence Romer and Edwin Brunscheen.

Monticello elects new councilman in second ward race
In Monticello on Tuesday, John Giegerich defeated Karl Barkdoll 92 to 43 for councilman in the second ward. Incumbents were re elected to other posts, with Norlin as mayor. Voter turnout was labeled average, ward two had the only contest, and four incumbents begin second terms January 1.
