WaMaC Festival Concert by Area High Schools
A massed chorus of about 500 high school students will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday Nov 6 at Monticello Community High School to close the WaMaC music festival. Monticello joins eight schools including Anamosa Independence Manchester Maquoketa Marion Tipton and Vinton in the chorus.

Monticello Veterans Day plans include parade and ceremony
The Rev. Howard Eldrenkamp will speak at the Veterans Day ceremony in Monticello on Thursday morning behind the Community building after a parade through the business district. The Monticello High School band Boy Scouts and veterans groups join the parade with services at Central and Community buildings. The day will close with prayers by Fr. John Pracek and Rev. Anton Kirkegaard as nationwide observances echo Arlington National Cemetery.

Iben Construction Wins Monticello Fire Station Bid
Iben Construction Co. won the Monticello fire station project with a bid of 26 766.50 including all alternates, beating Carroll Homes Inc which bid 36 813. Bonds of 27 000 were sold to Citizen Savings Bank for the project. Construction will start in spring with a July 1 1966 completion under city engineer Paul McMahan on South Street city land.

Monticello Community School District will dismiss at 2 30 p m during American Education Week November 7 to 13 to allow elementary teacher conferences while junior high holds meetings on request. High school conferences are canceled this year and high school staff will undergo in service education with nightly meetings. A parent newsletter Spotlight on the Junior High and High School will inform on report cards due dates and the no conference policy.
